The Department of Health is accepting applicants for its Pre-Service Scholarship Program 2023.

The DOH Pre-Service Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to deserving students pursuing a medical degree, nursing, midwifery, dentistry, and allied health courses. The DOH Pre-Service Scholarship program aims to provide poor, underprivileged, and helpless areas of the Philippines with access to quality healthcare services.

According to the Department of Health, a bright future awaits deserving and aspiring students who are committed to helping the Filipino people in the pursuit of health for all.” According to the DOH, this program will provide scholarships to new students at DOH Partner Schools majoring in medicine and midwifery.

What are the Benefits?

The following are the benefits of the DOH Pre-Service Scholarship for Medical Technology, Pharmacy, and Midwifery Diploma:

Scholarship Benefits for Diploma in Midwifery

Scholars for the Diploma in Midwifery will get a total annual allowance of ₱235,200 as scholarship benefits.

  • Tuition Fees – ₱50,000
  • Book Allowances – ₱20,000
  • For Uniform – ₱6,000
  • Miscellaneous Expenses – ₱14,000
  • Living expenses – ₱67,200
  • For Board and Lodging – ₱60,000
  • Transportation expenses – ₱18,000

Return Service: To receive a scholarship, the Scholars must complete one year of return service in the priority areas identified by the Department of Health.



Scholarship Benefits for Medical Technology and Pharmacy

Scholars for the Medical Technology and Pharmacy will get a total annual allowance of ₱267,200 as scholarship benefits.

  • Tuition Fees – ₱80,000
  • Book Allowances – ₱22,000
  • For Uniform – ₱6,000
  • Miscellaneous Expenses – ₱14,000
  • Living expenses – ₱67,200
  • For Board and Lodging – ₱60,000
  • Transportation expenses – ₱18,000

Return Service: To receive a scholarship, the Scholars must complete one year of return service in the priority areas identified by the Department of Health.



What are the Qualifications?

  • The applicant must be a citizen of the Philippines.
  • A good moral character is required.
  • You must have graduated from high school or senior high school.
  • The following applications will receive preference:
    • Families with low incomes.
    • Geographically isolated disadvantaged municipalities/provinces, or from the top 20 poorest provinces/municipalities/cities.
    • Indigenous communities/minority sectors
    • Children/dependents of government employees, victims of calamity or tragedy, police, military, or others injured or fatally wounded while on duty, barangay health workers, or traditional birth attendants, with chronic diseases.

Application Process

In the DOH Scholarship 2023 application process, there are two stages.

Initial Screening:
  • Students must apply directly to their preferred DOH Partner School and must meet the minimum requirements/criteria outlined above.
  • Only those who have been admitted to the partner schools are eligible to apply for the DOH Scholarship.

Final Screening:
  • Evaluation, Validation, and Approval of accepted applicants by the concerned CHD based on set criteria.
  • Successful Scholars will be notified through the Scholarship Coordinator of the Partner Schools.
