where to exit in slex going to tagaytay alternate route to tagaytay calax to tagaytay sta rosa exit to tagaytay calax to tagaytay toll fee slex exit to calax calax exit to tagaytay mamplasan exit to tagaytay

Last June, I went to Tagaytay for the second time this year with the same squad for an overnight stay.

This is our way to relax and escape from the hectic life in the city. It was also our celebration for our groom-to-be friend who will take vows with his long time girlfriend in July this year.

Loading...

It was Saturday. As usual, we started our trip in the morning. We were driving two vehicles, the first one went ahead to Tagaytay City. Our car needed to fix one of the wheels so it took us hours before getting off the road. Luckily, we found a service along one of  the gasoline station (stopover) in SLEX.

To catch up with our friends, we decided to exit in Mamplasan where an entrance to CALAX is connected to. When we reached interchange to Sta. Rosa, we took off the road going to Silang. We turned right to South Blvd. in South Forbes, Sta. Rosa. We drove ahead to Cardiac Rd. where we notice a huge portion of a golf course in the area. Then in just a few minutes, we already reached Brgy. Tibig Rd. in Silang, Cavite.

Watch our trip here:

ALTERNATE WAY TO TAGAYTAY

When we reached the end of Brgy. Tibig Rd., we took off the road in Brgy. Munting Ilog until we reach Brgy. Ulat Rd. Then instead of finishing off the Ulat Rd., we turned right to Pulong Bunga Rd. This give us an access heading to Emilio Aguinaldo Hi-way. We exited from a place where we saw a signage of Camella Silang.

Somewhere along Brgy. Tibig Road

Though it took us more meters on the road, that way saved us so much time avoiding the heavy traffic along Sta. Rosa - Tagaytay Rd. Specially, a lot of people travel to Tagaytay this time on a Saturday.

Just a few meters away, we took off the access road to the newly opened Tagaytay Bypass Road which brought us straight to Kaybagal North. This saved  us time from time from the jampacked Tagaytay - Nasugbu Rd.

MELIA'S FAMILY HOUSE STAYCATION

In less than 2 hours coming from SLEX, we arrived to our destination. It was past noon when we came in to Melia's Family House. It was a great Airbnb find by my friend, Basti.

It is a 3-storey house with living area, dining area, kitchen (and dirty kitchen), a restroom and a guest room in the first floor, entertainment area and two bedrooms in the second, and a spacious rooftop with dining in the third floor. It also features high ceiling in the living area and a floor-to-ceiling glass walls.

Melia's Family House's facade

The property has covered parking space, a little garden in front of the house and veranda in the second level. We were also given slippers to use inside and another pair of it in the rooftop.

Although we were only seven, the whole house is open for up to 10 persons per stay.

The location of the property is not that far from the city proper. However, it is recommended to bring own vehicle since it is located in a secluded area where public utility vehicles are not available. Though, Savemore in Mendez Crossing is just a few minutes drive away from the house.

Cheapest Flights and Airline Tickets Online Booking

You can book a stay at Melia's Family House on Airbnb app. Rate starts at P8,000 per night. You can use Waze app for directions to this vacation house.

Hot tip! Buy your pasalubong in the morning (I suggest at around 8am) depending to the opening of stores or establishments in Tagaytay. In our case, we went to Mahogany Market for dried goods like Tawilis at 7:30am, then a quick visit at Balay Dako for their special Piaya and Kuuma Kakao for a pack of Cocoa.

Overall, I enjoyed our short trip to Tagaytay amidst of COVID-19 pandemic. Of course, we wore masks and face shields whenever we were out and about.

BEFORE YOU BOOK

Scan/photograph an ID picture/selfie and 1 valid ID front and back. You need to upload these when you make your account.

HOW TO BOOK

  1. Finalize the date of your travel.
  2. Call your preferred accommodation and ask them for availability and to pencil book your dates. THIS IS IMPORTANT since the hotel will be the one to approve the QTP (QR TRAVEL PASS). Lafaayette Luxury Suites Baguio is highly recommended because they are very responsive. I tried calling The Manor and Forest Lodge, to no avail 😞 Fully-booked kasi siguro (Arid and Aroids Event).
  3. Once you confirmed the hotel availability, go to http://visita.baguio.gov.ph to make an account and schedule your visit. Each person needs to make an account and apply for QTP, regardless of age.
  4. Once you registered at Baguio Visita, inform your hotel and settle the advance deposit.
  5. I received our QTP few minutes after I submitted the deposit slip.
  6. Print your QTPs

You may also check the full list of hotels and lodging in Baguio. I also wrote Top10 hotels in Baguio on a separate blog.

BEFORE THE DATE OF YOUR TRAVEL

  1. Make sure to answer the health declaration- you will find it when you click schedule a visit at visita.baguio.gov.ph
  2. Print and fill-up the Case Investigation Form. You need this for the swab test (you can also fill out at the triage area but it’s an additional hassle, so might as well complete it before you go).
  3. Organize your QTPs, Valid IDs, and CIF in one envelope.

WHEN YOU ARRIVE IN BAGUIO

  1. You will register at KIA parking (you won’t miss it because there’s a checkpoint here).
  2. Leave your ID and follow the convoy that will bring you to the triage/testing area.
  3. Upon arrival at Camp John Hay, you will claim the valid ID you submitted in KIA.
  4. Register your QTPs.
  5. Pay the Rapid Antigen. We paid Php 350 (Php 500 if will stay at non-DOT accredited accom). Kids below 17 years old are not required to do the swab test.
  6. Go to the testing area for the nasal swab (not painful pero grabe yung tawa ko kasi nakaka-kiliti ng sobra).
  7. Proceed to the waiting area to get the result.
  8. Once negative, you are free to go already.

The total process from arrival at KIA up to getting our negative results is at 45 minutes.

Of course, the pandemic is still here but instead of fear, we chose to continue living our lives with caution (Lysol high touch areas, alcohol, wipes, masks, and shields). The best place we found that is kid friendly with many outdoor activities option is Baguio City.

For as long as we do safe travel and care for our health and the others, we can do this even in pandemic.

NEW NORMAL: This is how you can travel and stay safely in Baguio

McKinley is undoubtedly one of the most visited places in Taguig City today.

McKinley Hill is Megaworld's largest township development in Metro Manila and is the perfect LIVE-WORK-PLAY-LEARN-SHOP community with a land bank of 50 hectares in Fort Bonifacio. Here you get to experience a taste of European living in the tropics.

Inspired by cities in Italy and Spain, McKinley Hill brings to the Philippines the sophisticated culture of Southern Europe.

However, COVID-19 pandemic started to restrict people to go out and go malling. Since then, McKinley Hill just like the other townships and malls in the Philippines shut down business during the stricter community quarantine.

Now that we have vaccine to fight COVID-19 and that we are very knowledgeable on how to avoid it, we try and strive to live normally.

Thanks to this "outdoor dining" or "al fresco dining" ideas, we can now enjoy eating at our favorite restaurants.

It's even more nicer to see McKinley Hill, its Venice Grand Canal Mall and Venice Piazza with their setup of al fresco areas where people can now sit and dine while following safety and health protocols from the government.

The Upper McKinley Road is closed every weekend to encourage people to do outdoor activities such as jogging, biking and strolling.

Venice Piazza and Venice Grand Canal Mall are just two of Megaworld Lifestyle Malls that converts their spaces into outdoor dining areas.

Megaworld Lifestyle Malls’ flagship lifestyle establishment, Uptown Bonifacio, has opened more areas for alfresco dining.

People can easily make their way to the alfresco spaces at The Deck, which is conveniently situated at the fourth level of the mall.

Just across the street along 9th Ave., Uptown Parade boasts of an abundance of restaurants, with rows of various flavors and cuisine.

Customers can sit back and enjoy the relaxed ambiance and scenery while filling their stomachs with good food.

MCKINLEY HILL STREAT MARKET

The most romantic mall is making dining out even more dreamy with its new alfresco spaces. With its Italian-inspired design offering an unmatched charm and spectacle, eating outdoors in this mall is an experience not to be missed.

Many Filipinos are yearning to travel again after the prolonged confinement, while some who are away from their homes cannot wait to be reunited with their families.

The way people travel is changing and while we have to put off the thrill of new adventures for now, Cebu Pacific assures everyJuan with an essential or immediate need to travel that the airline is more ready than ever to accompany them on a safe journey to their desired destinations.

As part of its preparation to fly again in the near future, Cebu Pacific rolls out measures for contactless flights. Having everyJuan’s health and safety in mind, the airline will continue to promote social distancing and minimize face-to-face contact between passengers and staff with the following guidelines:

Loading...

Safety on ground

All Cebu Pacific ground staff are required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) while on duty. Self-check in kiosks, check-in and bag drop counters, as well as shuttle buses will be undergoing frequent cleaning and disinfection procedures to ensure a clean environment. Alcohol-based hand sanitizers will also be stationed at CEB passenger areas for guest and staff use.

Self-check in and no-touch boarding

Prior to their flights, passengers are strongly advised to check-in online for faster processing and lesser human contact. Travelers will also be expected to come to the airport at least tow (2) hours early as check-in counters will be closed 60 minutes before their flights. When carrying more than two (2) luggages, assign only one representative to go to the baggage drop-off counter. Upon boarding, passengers will be required to hold out their boarding passes with the barcode facing the airline staff, for touchless scanning.

Changes in inflight experience

Wearing face masks will be mandatory for all passengers for the duration of the flight. Passengers will have to stow their own hand-carry bags in the overhead bins and will be expected to practice self-disposal of trash and waste at the end of the flight. Middle seats will be kept vacant as much as possible to give way for social distancing on board. Cabin crew members will also be strictly implementing no changing of seats during the flight. Orderly deplaning procedures must also be observed by everyone on board.

Rapid crew testing before flights

As part of CEB’s commitment to flatten the curve, pilots and cabin crew members will undergo rapid antibody testing to ensure that they are healthy and in top condition before boarding their flights. They will be given their own PPEs and face masks to be worn on duty, gloves for servicing passengers, as well as disinfectants to be used to clean the aisles and seats in the cabin. Operating crew cleared for flights will also be given PPEs and will be trained to assist and isolate guests on board, as needed.

Keeping cabin air clean and safe

Those flying as soon as the quarantine is lifted will be assured that the cabin air is clean and safe. The airline’s fleet of Airbus jets are equipped with High Efficiency Particulate Arrestor (HEPA) filters to block microscopic bacteria and virus clusters, including the Novel CoronaVirus, with 99.9% efficiency. By average, air inside the cabin is also changed every 3 minutes to maintain fresh and clean air.

Cheapest Flights and Airline Tickets Online Booking

Intensified aircraft cleaning measures

Along with maintaining the air circulation in the cabin safe and clean, the airline has also put in effect thorough daily disinfection of all aircraft which follows procedures approved by the Bureau of Quarantine and World Health Organization. These include misting of the cabin using a disinfectant approved for Airbus jets, as well as regular sanitation of all surfaces inside lavatories—from walls, sink, mirror, knobs, toilet bowl, and floors in between flights. All lavatories will also be sanitized every 30 minutes during a flight.

Cebu Pacific Travel Requirements

Local authorities may have specific requirements and regulations, depending on the destination. Guests are STRONGLY URGED to check with the concerned LGU first and select destinations that are closest to their residences. See List of Travel Requirements in the Philippines

With these safety measures,
Cebu Pacific is looking forward to safe and mindful travels as everyJuan eases into the new normal and gets ready to fly again. For urgent concerns, passengers can contact Cebu Pacific via website (http://bit.ly/CEBrequest) or contact +63288027070. Latest announcements can also be found on CEB’s official Twitter (@CebuPacificAir) and Facebook pages.
