Philippines' COVID-19 cases have breached the 50,000 mark as of July 8, 2020. DOH reports 2,539 new cases (1,922 fresh; 617 late), bringing the national total to 50,359.

Total recoveries have reached 12,588 while death toll is now at 1,314.


The Philippines still has the second-highest number of COVID-19 cases across Southeast Asia between Indonesia with 68,079 infections and Singapore with 45,140.


Fresh cases also reached a new record-high, 883 of which are from Metro Manila, 369 are from Region VII, while the 670 other patients came from various areas nationwide.

Among the fresh cases, 883 are from Metro Manila, 369 are from Region VII, while the 670 other patients came from various areas nationwide.

Among the late cases, 183 are from Metro Manila, 74 are from Region VII, while the remaining 360 are spread out across the country.


There are also 36,457 active cases undergoing treatment or quarantine.


Meanwhile, 1,306 or 43.26 percent of intensive care unit beds for COVID-19 patients nationwide are currently occupied while 1,989 or 25.04 percent of mechanical ventilators are in use.
