Commuters in Cavite now have a greener and more convenient way to travel to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) with the official launch of the new UBE Express dispatch station at Robinsons Imus.

The new station, located at the Mall Driveway near the Tokyo Tokyo food truck, marks a significant milestone for sustainable transportation in the city, as it features the launch of UBE Express' first Pure Electric Vehicle (EV) Bus operating on the NAIA route.

The move is part of a joint commitment to environmental sustainability, with Robinsons Malls championing the initiative. "At Robinsons Malls, we believe in creating a future where getting around is easier, cleaner, and kinder to the planet," a representative stated. "By supporting sustainable mobility, we hope to bring communities closer and make everyday journeys more meaningful."

The pure electric bus service offers a direct link for residents and travelers from Imus to all NAIA terminals, promising a quieter and zero-emission ride.

Free Rides to Celebrate Launch

To celebrate the launch of the new station and the pioneering EV bus, UBE Express is offering FREE RIDES to the public today. This gives commuters a chance to experience the premium electric vehicle service firsthand.

Following the launch promotion, the UBE Express service will operate daily from 5:45 AM to 9:20 PM, with a fixed fare of only ₱200 per ride. The new route is expected to provide a reliable, comfortable, and environmentally friendly alternative to private cars and traditional public transport for airport access.

The opening of the new station at Robinsons Imus is seen as a crucial step in expanding eco-friendly public transport options in the greater Metro Manila area and its surrounding provinces.

Here's all you need to know about LRT-1 Cavite Extension!

Amidst the excitement surrounding upcoming public transportation projects like MRT-4, MRT-7, and the Metro Manila Subway Project, the expansion of the LRT-1 line is generating considerable buzz for the future of transportation in the metro. Known as the LRT-1 Cavite Extension, this project aims to elongate the existing LRT-1 route, stretching from Baclaran in Pasay to Bacoor in Cavite, covering approximately 11.8 kilometers of new railway tracks.

Once completed, the Cavite Extension will bolster the total number of LRT-1 stations from 20 to 28. Five stations will be strategically located in ParaƱaque City, with an additional one in Las PiƱas and two in Bacoor, Cavite. This expansion has led to the project being commonly referred to as the South Extension Project.

Here's a comprehensive overview of the key details concerning the LRT-1 Cavite Extension.

What is LRT-1 Cavite Extension Project?

The Cavite Extension project will expand the LRT-1 network from 20 to 28 stations, spanning key cities such as Quezon City, Caloocan, Manila, Pasay, and Paranaque, extending all the way to Bacoor, Cavite. Once operational, the travel time from Pasay to Cavite is projected to be reduced to just 25 to 30 minutes, a significant improvement from the current duration of one hour and 30 minutes. With an estimated daily ridership of around 800,000 passengers, the extended route is poised to efficiently serve a large volume of commuters.

As of November 10, Phase 1 of the Cavite Extension has reached a progress rate of 94%, with the initial five stations nearing completion at rates of 70% and above. According to the Light Rail Manila Corporation, if the current pace is maintained, Phase 1 is anticipated to commence operations by the fourth quarter of 2024, with full operations expected by 2027.

LRT-1 Cavite Extension Stations

Introducing the new stations on the upcoming LRT-1 Cavite Extension:

  • Redemptorist Station
  • MIA Station
  • Asiaworld Station
  • Ninoy Aquino Station
  • Dr. Santos Station
  • Las PiƱas Station
  • Zapote Station
  • Niog Station

Each of these stations is strategically situated to offer convenient access to various key areas within the city. For instance, the MIA Station will serve as the closest stop to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), while the Asiaworld Station will be linked to the Paranaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) for seamless intermodal transportation.

Moreover, the Dr. Santos Station will feature a bus terminal, sports facility, and connectivity to SM City Sucat for added convenience and accessibility.

Timeline of the LRT-1 Cavite Extension

The LRT-1 Cavite Extension project is divided into two phases. Phase 1 encompasses five stations from Redemptorist to Dr. Santos, while Phase 2 covers the remaining three stations from Las PiƱas to Niog. Once completed, the extension will add 32.4 kilometers to the LRT-1 railway network.

Construction for the Cavite Extension commenced in 2019, with Phase 2 construction scheduled to commence upon the completion of Phase 1. It is anticipated that Phase 1 will be operational by the fourth quarter of 2024.

Everything You Should Know About LRT-1 Cavite Extension (Stations & Timeline)

Starting today, November 8, 2023, the Silang Aguinaldo Interchange of the Cavite Laguna Expressway (CALAX) is set to open to motorists, marking a significant milestone for the region's transportation network.

Managed by MPCALA Holdings Inc (MHI), the concessionaire of CALAX, this 3.9-km subsection aims to enhance travel experiences for commuters.

This expansion, which was declared 91% complete in August 2023, offers a promising solution to traffic challenges in the area.

What's more, motorists can rejoice as they will be able to use this new section without incurring any charges initially. The customer-centric approach allows travelers to enjoy toll-free passage until further notice, with charges only applied up to Silang East.

Loading...

Raul Ignacio, the President and GM of MHI, expressed excitement about this development, emphasizing the positive impact it will have on both commuters and the local economy. He highlighted how the new CALAX section will not only simplify travel for motorists but also stimulate economic growth. By providing quicker access to popular destinations in Cavite, the expressway is expected to create opportunities for businesses to flourish and families to spend quality time together.

Upon its official opening later this week, the Silang Aguinaldo Interchange is anticipated to accommodate an additional 5,000 motorists daily. It will serve as a faster route to emerging tourism spots in Silang, Cavite, and Tagaytay City, further enhancing the region's appeal.

Looking ahead, CALAX is slated to expand to a total length of 45 kilometers by 2024, featuring eight strategically located interchanges: Technopark, Laguna Boulevard, Santa Rosa-Tagaytay Road, Silang East, Silang (Aguinaldo), Governor's Drive, Open Canal, and Kawit Interchange. This expansion plan will seamlessly connect CALAX to the Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX) in Kawit, ensuring efficient connectivity between key regions.

For travelers heading to Silang or Tagaytay City, the CALAX Silang Interchange will offer a hassle-free journey starting this Wednesday.
