The iconic Ayala Malls in Makati are currently undergoing a massive transformation, with a P17.5-billion reinvestment plan set to reimagine Greenbelt and Glorietta into world-class destinations. This ambitious project aims to blend style, comfort, and cutting-edge retail with improved urban connectivity, promising a more refined and integrated experience for shoppers and city dwellers alike.



Ayala Malls Chief Operating Officer Paul Birkett and Ayala Land Senior Vice President Mariana Zobel de Ayala recently unveiled the details of the "reimagination," which goes beyond a simple facelift. The plan is to create a unified Glorietta, Greenbelt, and One Ayala complex that prioritizes pedestrian movement and seamless transport integration.



Glorietta's Grand Refresh

As part of its revitalization, Glorietta is being refreshed with modern interiors and a redesigned Grand Mall façade. A key element of the plan is the transformation of the familiar Glorietta 4 Park into a lively new plaza with dedicated al fresco dining areas.


This move is part of a broader effort to pedestrianize familiar roads and create a more walkable city center.




Greenbelt's Luxury Evolution

Known as the premier luxury destination, Greenbelt is further elevating its status with a curated mix of new-to-market international brands. Recent additions include luxury fashion houses like Golden Goose, Alo Yoga, Sandro, Maje, and Alice + Olivia.

The redevelopment also promises a new nightlife destination, T:28, at Greenbelt 2, offering curated culinary and mixology experiences. The redevelopment of Greenbelt 1, which closed in April 2024, is scheduled to be completed by 2028 and will become a new, modern structure with a focus on premium retail and sustainable design.


A Focus on Connectivity, Design, and Experience

This extensive redevelopment is a strategic move to ensure the malls remain relevant and resilient in a changing retail landscape. Ayala Land's vision extends beyond commerce, aiming to redefine its malls as "third spaces" that serve as a natural extension of people's homes, fostering community and social connection.



Key features of the transformation include:

  • Seamless Walkability: The project seeks to connect Glorietta, Greenbelt, and One Ayala through integrated pathways, making the entire complex more accessible and pedestrian-friendly.

  • Green and Open Spaces: The design incorporates more open-air green zones, pocket parks, and al fresco dining spots to provide a more tranquil and refreshing atmosphere.

  • Elevated Entertainment and Dining: Malls like TriNoma are getting upgraded with Giant Screen cinemas and Dolby Atmos theaters, while both Greenbelt and Glorietta are set for a culinary refresh with new dining concepts.

  • Sustainability: The renovations will incorporate sustainable features such as natural ventilation, energy-efficient systems, and wider corridors to enhance occupant well-being. The company is even recycling demolition debris from Greenbelt 1 into new construction materials.




The large-scale revitalization of Makati's retail heart is a bold statement about Ayala Land's long-term strategy. With rollouts scheduled from 2025 to 2028, and a broader plan to add over 700,000 square meters of gross leasable area nationwide, the company is not just renovating spaces—it is building future-ready, interconnected destinations that are designed to evolve with the rhythm of modern life.

A new parking policy will take effect at The Shops, Ayala Triangle Gardens starting June 15, 2025, featuring updated operating hours and revised parking rates for both four-wheeled vehicles and motorcycles.



According to the advisory, parking will be available daily — including weekends — from 6:00 AM to 9:59 PM.

Extended hours will also be in effect, covering 10:00 PM to 5:59 AM, ensuring 24-hour access for visitors and patrons.

About Greenbelt

Greenbelt is a shopping mall located at Ayala Center, Makati, Metro Manila, Philippines which is just near Glorietta and SM Makati. A sprawling 2.8-hectare garden amidst a world-class shopping and dining paradise, Greenbelt seamlessly integrates the indoor experience with the outdoor in its expansive 12-hectare space. It is one of the first outdoor malls in the Philippines and the 3rd mall to operate by Ayala 

Greenbelt 1

Greenbelt is owned by Ayala Malls, a real-estate subsidiary of Ayala Land, which is an affiliate of Ayala Corporation. It opened in the 1988 and is one of Ayala Corporation's flagship projects. The mall offers a mix of high-end retail shops, restaurants, amenities, leisure and entertainment.

Currently, the mall has five sections: two enclosed areas, two buildings with open-air shopping areas, and Greenbelt 5, which opened in 2007.

One of Greenbelt's distinctive features is its integration of lush, landscaped gardens within the complex. Divided into five sections (Greenbelt 1 to 5), each area boasts a unique ambiance, creating an oasis of greenery amidst the bustling cityscape.

Shopping at Greenbelt

Greenbelt is synonymous with luxury retail. Housing international and local designer boutiques, it caters to discerning shoppers seeking the finest in fashion, accessories, and lifestyle products. Whether it's haute couture or everyday elegance, Greenbelt's array of shops curates an unparalleled retail experience.

Greenbelt 1 features lifestyle, food, and supply stores, as well as two cinemas and the OnStage Theater (a performing arts theater home to Repertory Philippines) that are currently closed. It is also the location of a branch of The Marketplace supermarket. It used to be the location of Automatic Centre, the anchor appliance store, until its closure on October 10, 2021.

Greenbelt 2 features high-end restaurants and the Greenbelt Townhomes, a two- to three-story condominium on top.

Greenbelt 3 features a mix of international brands including luxury labels, sit-down restaurants, five cinemas and entertainment facilities. The largest Philippine branch known as Louis Vuitton was found here. It is also the location of the Philippines's third 4DX cinema, launched in 2016.

Greenbelt 4 features high-end boutiques. Also included are branches of H&M and Globe store.

Greenbelt 5 has boutiques of Filipino designers, high-end department store Adora, and boutiques.

Restaurants at Greenbelt

Santo Niño de Paz Greenbelt Chapel is a Roman Catholic place of worship in Greenbelt Park at the complex's center. Built as an open-air, concrete dome in the middle of a pond, the chapel holds masses and other religious services every day for mall patrons and office workers. It celebrates its titular feast day every third Sunday of January.

How to Get to Greenbelt

Greenbelt is conveniently located in the heart of Makati, making it easily accessible from various points in Metro Manila. Here are several ways to get to Greenbelt:


By Car

If you're driving, set your destination to Greenbelt, Makati. You can use navigation apps like Google Maps or Waze for real-time directions.

The major roads leading to Makati include EDSA, Ayala Avenue, and South Avenue.


By Public Transportation

  • MRT-3: If you're taking the Metro Rail Transit (MRT), get off at Ayala Station. Greenbelt is a short walk from the station.

  • Bus: Several bus routes pass through Ayala Avenue. You can take a bus and alight at the Ayala Center bus stop.

  • Jeepney: Jeepneys ply various routes in Makati. Look for jeepneys going to Ayala or those passing along Ayala Avenue.

P2P Bus

By Taxi or Ride-Sharing

Taxis are readily available in Metro Manila. Simply tell the driver you're heading to Greenbelt in Makati. Greenbelt 1 Drop-off.

By Foot

If you're in the vicinity, especially around Ayala Avenue or the Ayala Triangle Gardens, you can easily walk to Greenbelt. Follow the signs or ask locals for directions.


By Bike

If you prefer cycling, Makati has been implementing bike-friendly initiatives. You can bike to Greenbelt and use designated bike lanes.


Parking at Greenbelt

Greenbelt is served by an interconnected basement parking built beneath it. It is also served by parking buildings at Greenbelt 1 and 2, respectively, and the Paseo Steel Parking, located at the corner of Paseo de Roxas and Esperanza Street. The steel parking and Greenbelt 2 parking are interconnected to each other.

The rates for Greenbelt parking are:
  • The First 4-hour: P45
  • 6 AM - 11 AM: P50 per succeeding hour
  • 11:00 AM - closing: P10 per succeeding hour
  • Saturday & Sunday: A flat rate of P45 until 3 AM.

Parking is open Monday to Sunday, with opening times varying between zones:
  • Greenbelt 1 and 2 (basement): 24 hours
  • Greenbelt 2 (Upper level): 10 AM – 2 AM
  • Greenbelt 3: 24 hours
  • Greenbelt 4: 10 AM – 2 AM

My Personal Experience

Last weekend I brought my team to Ayala Malls Manila Bay to get to experience the recently opened museum and attraction at the second level of the mall.

If you are bringing your own vehicle and parked in the basement, you have to go to the ground level to get in to the mall, you can ask any of the guards around to give you directions to Food Wanderer x Lakbay Museo.

Upon entering, you will be welcomed by the huge colorful signage.

I went straight to the admission lobby to book our entrance. We were asked to stay for a bit and wait for our guide before the start of the tour.

The MassKara Entrance

From here, there are TWO WAYS to get in to the museum: thru MASSKARA or thru JEEPNEY

Of course, we chose the Masskara which led us to a small slide to enter the museum!

Fun Fact: The MassKara Festival is an annual festival with highlights held every 4th Sunday of October in Bacolod, Philippines.

The tour was free-flow but guided by the paths to different rooms which feature different facts and activities. There are staff inside the museum who will help you along the way.

Upon entrance, we were welcomed by different tourist destinations from the Luzon island.


IFUGAO VILLAGE

An Ifugao house commonly seen in the Mountain Province

First off is the traditional Ifugao House which features food and furniture used by the Igorots until now. Ifugao village are common in the Cordilleras which is a mountainous region in the Philippines.

For this one, there was a guide who taught us about the Ifugao House, its importance and a bit of history. The guide let us also take the stairs and get in to the house for the experience and a selfie (of course!)


MAYON VOLCANO

This is a replica of Mt. Mayon in Bicol region, a rainbow version of the volcano.

Overall, our Food Wanderer x Lakbay Museo experience was fun and educational (even for us adults). The tour only took under 2 hours but packed with learning and colorful attractions for your social media.

Food Wanderer x Lakbay Museo is located at the 2nd level of Ayala Malls Manila Bay. If you are driving you can just take any roads going towards Aseana Ave. The mall is just across City of Dreams.

  • There are no direct transportation to Ayala Malls Manila Bay yet. However, you can follow directions going to City of Dreams as of now.
