Most of us are SSS members but not all of us are aware what SSS benefits are. Others are SSS members just because they are employed not because they know the benefits that SSS offers.

Here are the benefits under the Social Security System (SSS) Program are:

  • Salary Loan. This kind of benefit is intended to meet short-term credit needs of its member. It is a cash loan granted to an employed, and currently – paying self-employed or voluntary member.
  • Funeral. Whoever paid for the burial expenses of the deceased member, SSS offers a funeral grant of ₱20,000.
  • Death. A cash benefit granted to the beneficiaries of a deceased member either as a monthly compensation or lump-sum amount.
  • Retirement Benefit. A cash benefit granted to a member who can no longer work due to old age. Either as a monthly compensation or a lump-sum amount.
  • Disability Benefit. A cash benefit granted to a member who becomes permanently disabled, either partially or totally. Members can choose either as a monthly pension or a lump-sum amount.
  • Maternity Benefit. A daily cash allowance granted to a female member who experience childbirth or miscarriage that hinders her to work.
  • Sickness Benefit. A daily cash allowance paid for the number of days a sick or injured member who is unable to work.

If Your SSS Card Was Lost Or If You Forgot Your SSS Number, Should You Secure Another Number?

It is advisable to inquire from the nearest SSS branch or you can look online on how you can replace a loss SSS ID card or if you cannot remember your SSS number. The SSS number assigned to you is a lifetime number. This means, it must always be used in all transactions with SSS.



What Happens To My SSS Contribution If I Lose My Job?

At the end of the month of separation, your employer’s obligation to pay your SSS contributions ceases. But you are stiil entitled to SSS benefits and privileges and shall still be credited with all the contributions paid on your behalf.

To maintain your right to full benefits, you may also opt to continue paying your total contributions as a voluntary member.




Can A Member Withdraw Their SSS Membership?

Once you are registered and is covered for SSS membership, you become a member for life.You cannot withdraw your SSS membership.


Who Are Considered As Primary SSS Beneficiaries?

The benefits will go to your parents if you’re single and without children. They are considered as your secondary beneficiaries.

Your spouse and your dependent children is your primary beneficiaries. Whether your children is legitimate, adopted or illegitimate as long as they are not yet 21 years old, they are one of your primary beneficiaries. On the other hand, as long as your spouse will not remarry, he or she will still enjoy the benefits as one of your primary beneficiaries.
