What is IMEI?
The IMEI stands for International Mobile Equipment Identity. It is usually composed of 15 decimal digits (for IMEI) or 16 decimal digits (for IMEI/SV) that include information on the origin, model, and the device's serial number. Every phone has a unique IMEI number that enables service providers to identify it. It is typically printed on the battery compartment of older phones, while newer smartphones, either Android or Apple, have it printed on the box.

How to Find My Phone's IMEI?
The IMEI number can be found on the box or other documentation that came with your phone (i.e., receipt).
IMEI can also be displayed on-screen on most phones by dialing *#06# (USSD code). Additionally, dual SIM cards will display two IMEI numbers on the screen, one for each of the two GSM modules contained within. Block both IMEIs on the form.

For Android users: Retrieve your IMEI inside your Google account
If you own an Android device and have logged into Google Play, you can get your phone's IMEI by following these simple steps:
1. Log in to your Google account on your browser (Chrome/Opera/Firefox).
2. Go to https://www.google.com/android/find.
3. Find the device missing (if you have multiple devices), then click the "i" button beside the phone. This will display the IMEI number and other information.
For iOS users: Find your iPhone IMEI using iTunes
If you've ever synced your iPhone with iTunes, you should be able to view the device's data, including the IMEI, in the iTunes settings. See the procedure below:
1. If you're using Mac, go to the iTunes > Preferences tab. If you're on the PC version of iTunes, go to the Edit > Preferences tab.
2. Now, click on the devices button. Then, go to the Summary tab.
3. Double-click your mobile phone number. Your IMEI should be visible.
What is IMEI Blocking?
Since mobile networks can identify phones connected to them via IMEI, they can be requested to blacklist or deny service to a specific device. It will be implemented by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), the government agency that oversees network operators in the Philippines. If the NTC approves your request, your phone's access to all networks in the country will be disabled, effectively rendering it useless.
Does IMEI Blocking Really Work?
Yes, it should work in this case. However, there are some limitations, such as the following:
If your device is removed from the country, the NTC loses jurisdiction over foreign mobile operators.
If the thief is skilled enough, he may be able to change the IMEI of your phone. This is not simple and requires technical expertise or the ability to pay for such services.
Nonetheless, opting for IMEI blocking is still good.
How to Make a Request to NTC?
The Philippine government, through FOI Philippines, has laid out simple steps to block the IMEI of your lost or stolen phone.
For Walk-In
Requirements:
The box of the mobile phone indicating the (IMEI) or Official Receipt
Two (2) valid IDs (at least one government-issued ID). Example: passport, driver's license, postal ID, NBI clearance, birth certificate
Procedure:
1. Go to the NTC Regional Office. To check the location/address of the nearest one in your area, go to ntc.gov.ph and click the "Regional Office" in the website's menu.
2. Present the requirements to the employee, and you'll be asked to fill in their forms.
3. Wait for the process to finish.

How to replace a lost SIM card?
For Globe and TM
To have your Globe/TM SIM card replaced, you can go to the nearest Globe store. Make sure to bring a Duly Authorized Affidavit of Loss and a valid ID.
Additional information for Globe Postpaid subscribers
Globe offers postpaid subscribers a complete cellphone protection program called Gadget Care. In case of theft or robbery, postpaid customers subscribed to Gadget Care can replace their devices without hassle.
For Smart, TNT, and Sun Cellular
To have your SIM card replaced for free, you may visit your nearest Smart Store. Just bring with you the following:
- Duly Authorized Affidavit of Loss
- 1 Primary Valid Proof of Identification or 2 Secondary IDs
- Proof of Ownership (SIM Bed, Official Receipt with Mobile Identification, PUK Slip, Successful Login to My Smart Web/MyPLDT Smart App/Giga Life App)
If your phone with a Smart/TNT/Sun SIM card was lost, Smart offers a toll-free customer service hotline for you to report it and replace your SIM card.
For Postpaid subscribers, you can call *888 via cellphone or (02) 8888-1111 via landline to report the loss of your cellphone. After Smart receives the notification of the lost phone, all outgoing calls will be immediately blocked. Additionally, you may request that incoming calls be blocked. If you want to disconnect your line, you need to submit to Smart an affidavit of loss or a police report if stolen and a signed Letter of Undertaking (LOU) within seven (7) days from the report of loss.
For Prepaid subscribers, you can call *888 via cellphone or (02) 8888-1111 via landline to report the loss of your mobile phone. To replace your SIM card, you may visit a Smart Store. The requirements are a Duly Authorized Affidavit of Loss, 1 Valid Proof of Identification, and Proof of Ownership (SIM Beds, PUK Slips, Personalized Smart Money Card).
For DITO
According to DITO, they cannot replace a DITO SIM Card if it becomes lost or damaged.
For GOMO
According to GOMO, a GOMO SIM card is non-replaceable in the event of loss or theft.
The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) on Friday approved the registration of Starlink Internet Services Philippines Inc. (Starlink) -- a subsidiary of Elon Musk’s SpaceX --allowing the satellite internet provider to begin offering its services in the country.
In a statement, NTC Commissioner Gamaliel Cordoba said Starlink has been approved as a value-added service (VAS) provider, allowing direct access to satellite systems, and the construction and operation of broadband facilities.

“The NTC is steadfast in helping ensure that roll-out of Starlink’s internet access services will be done expeditiously and professionally,” Cordoba said.
The Philippines is set to be the first country in Southeast Asia to have Starlink broadband service -- allowing Filipinos in remote areas to enjoy low latency internet services such as video calls, online gaming, streaming, and other “high data” activities that were previously difficult with regular satellite internet.
SpaceX counsel, lawyer Bien Marquez from the law firm Quisumbing Torres, thanked the NTC for its “prompt action,” noting that Starlink’s VAS license was issued 30 minutes after their submission of registration and complete requirements.

How to register SIM?
Starting December 27, 2022, existing prepaid users can register their SIM card for free via their telco provider's respective online SIM registration platform:
- For Globe and TM - https://new.globe.com.ph/simreg
- For Smart and Talk 'N Text - https://smart.com.ph/simreg
- For DITO - https://dito.ph/RegisterDITO
For those who don't have access to the internet or still using a basic or feature phone, telcos will be setting up assisted registration sites.
Meanwhile, existing postpaid users will be notified by their respective telcos and will be asked to confirm the information they provided when they subscribed.
When is the registration deadline for existing SIM users?
If you're an existing SIM user, you have until April 26, 2023, to register your SIM cards.
What if I didn't register by the given deadline?
If you fail to register within the period prescribed, your SIM card will be automatically deactivated. You'll be unable to use its services, such as calls, texts, and mobile data.

How to reactivate a deactivated SIM card?
According to NTC, a deactivated SIM card will be given a 5-day grace period to register and get reactivated.

Poe, who chairs the Senate Committee on Public Services, said the extension would help clarify the confusion and concerns of registrants regarding the law.
"It should be emphasized that SIMs will still be available in local retailers and sari-sari stores even past the SIM Registration deadline. Users will simply be required to register first before they can activate their new SIMs," she said in a statement as she welcomed the decision to extend the registration.
"SIM registration was meant to promote the responsible use of SIM and to halt the abuses of scammers and criminals. It is not meant to punish legitimate SIM subscribers, especially those at remote areas."
She recalled that when the bill on SIM registration was under deliberation, lawmakers considered the compliance of the more than 168 million SIM subscribers and had foreseen the need to extend the registration period to accommodate all users.
Poe was the bill's sponsor in the Senate.
As of April 23, National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) data show that about 82,845,397, or 49.31 percent of SIM cards have been registered.
The breakdown is as follows:
- DITO: 5,796,175 or 38.73 percent
- Globe: 37,099,437 or 42.77 percent
- Smart: 39,949,785 or 60.25 percent

Poe reiterated her call to telecom firms to go down to the grassroots to reach out to more subscribers.
"As most telcos have been enjoying vast profits from their services, they have the corresponding obligation and the necessary resources to track down their SIM users and to widen the opportunity for registration," she said.
Poe noted that while several locations have been visited for remote registration, more needs to be covered as key areas, such as the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao have yet to be reached, according to data from the NTC.
The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) should also look into the continuing proliferation of spam messages despite the ongoing SIM registration, she said.
Meanwhile, two days before the SIM card registration deadline, the DICT and its attached agencies met with officials from the country’s three public telecommunication entities (PTEs) – Globe, Smart, and DITO – to discuss concerns on the implementation of RA 11934.

When can I request for internal porting and what are the requirements?
To port within our network, you need to meet the following requirements:
- An active SIM or mobile number
- No financial obligations or remaining balances from your previous postpaid bill
- No porting request in the last 60 days
- No record of fraudulent activity
You may request for internal porting via the GlobeOne app.
When can I request for external porting and what criteria should I meet?
The NTC said that by September 30, 2021, customers of Globe and other telcos can keep their mobile numbers when switching networks.
As stated by law, you should be able to port to Globe from another network when you meet the following criteria:
- Have an active mobile number
- Your mobile number shouldn’t be part of a bundled service or product
- There must be no pending request for the transfer of ownership of your mobile subscription
- Your mobile number must not have other accounts under your subscription
- No porting request in the last 60 days
- No fraudulent activity
- No remaining balances from your previous postpaid bill or financial obligations

- Your mobile number must not be under any NTC, court or law prohibition.
At the very least, you should be able to submit these basic requirements:
- A valid Unique Subscriber Code (USC) from your existing network provider
- A government-issued ID
- Proof of ownership of your mobile number
What's a Unique Subscriber Code?
The Unique Subscriber Code, or USC, is a 9-digit code which can be requested via text from your existing network provider, will initially check if your mobile number is eligible for switching, and it's valid for fifteen (15) days from date of issuance.
To get the 9-digit USC, non-Globe customers may reach out to their existing network.
What happens to my current subscriptions when I apply for mobile number porting?
All your current subscriptions, including prepaid load balance, rolled-over data, Value-Added Services (VAS) and other add-ons such as local and roaming promos, will automatically expire once your MNP application is approved and activated.
How do I apply for external porting and how long will the actual process take?
Non-Globe customers must inquire about switching through their respective customer care channels. Make sure that you have a valid 9-digit Unique Subscriber Code from your existing network before you can switch to Globe.
Once you have your 9-digit USC, you may apply for switching to Globe from your existing network through these channels:

TV host-comedian Willie Revillame announced on his online show, Wowowin, on September 1 that he’s been in discussion with former Senator Manny Villar for the target soft launch on Tuesday, September 13 of AMBS’ flagship channel to be called ‘AllTV’ with the slogan ‘Saya All’.
History of AMBS
All TV operates under AMBS, which is owned by Prime Asset Ventures founder Manuel Paolo Villar. The station is still on test broadcast but will be airing under the former frequencies of ABS-CBN.
AMBS was previously owned by the Vera family before it was sold to Villar's Planet Cable by AMBS president Andrew Santiago. In 2019, it was granted a 25-year franchise extension under Republic Act 11253.
In May 2020, the ABS-CBN network was forced to shut down after failing to secure a new franchise. After two years, the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) awarded AMBS the rights to use ABS-CBN’s former frequencies, channel 2 and channel 16.
All TV programming
The announcement of upcoming shows of AllTV will be made by Revillame on his show, Wowowin. He assured that their shows would be made bigger and better with some of your best celebrities and entertainers. It will also feature some of the best news anchors and personalities.
Revillame said ‘Wowowin’ will be in the primetime slot between 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm.
The station's soft launch will take place in September, but the grand launch will take place early 2023.
How to watch ‘All TV’?
The upcoming TV network, which has broadcast facilities and studios located at Starmalls in EDSA, Mandaluyong, will operate via analog Channel 2 and on Channel 16 on digital frequency.
For free TV, you can tune in to the widely popular Channel 2, which was previously assigned to ABS-CBN.
Revillame said ‘AllTV’ will be available as well on Sky Cable and Cignal via Channel 35.
It will be seen also on digital boxes (digibox) like Affordabox, TV Plus or Sulit TV on Channel 12. Since the channel may change according to your location, it’s best to rescan your digibox and search for either AMBS or AllTV.
Note that as of September 2, only the test broadcast is available for viewing. You can tune in to ‘Wowowin’ for further announcements of shows.
In 2022, AMBS was allowed to start its test broadcast in Manila and will continue to expand to reach the rest of the Philippines.

Under Vera Ownership
The Vera family, under the aegis of Quest Broadcasting head, attorney Jose Luis Vera, established Advanced Media Broadcasting System in 1994 with its Congressional franchise granted the following year.
With the help of Jinji Buhain (niece of then-Manila Auxiliary Bishop Teodoro Buhain), AMBS bought 103.5 DWCS from the Archdiocese of Manila and changed its callsign to DWKX which gave the birth of adult contemporary station K-Lite.
The station, along with four other Vera-controlled Metro Manila stations - (Jam 88.3, Wave 89.1, Magic 89.9 and 99.5 RT) and the Killerbee provincial network - formed The Radio Partners in the early 2000s before being reorganized in 2011 under the new Tiger 22 Media group.
Under Villar Ownership
In 2019, AMBS was granted a 25-year legislative franchise extension under Republic Act 11253 albeit without President Rodrigo Roa Duterte's signature as the bill lapsed into law after 30 days of inaction.
The Vera family and AMBS president Andrew Santiago, however, decided to sell the company to Planet Cable of real estate magnate and businessman-politician Manny Villar after its FM station (K-Lite) was in the red due the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
On January 5, 2022, the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) awarded AMBS a provisional authority to operate for the digital Channel 16 frequency (previously assigned to ABS-CBN Corporation) for an 18-month test broadcast period; and for the analog Channel 2 frequency under a temporary assignment for simulcast purposes until analog shut-off in 2023. The construction of AMBS's own digital terrestrial television network in Metro Manila was expected to be completed in July 2022.
In June 2022, AMBS Manila began its test broadcast and will make its official launch on October 1, 2022 with plans to expanding it nationwide by the end of the year or even sooner, as announced by Willie Revillame.
On July 15, 2022, during his contract signing with AMBS, Revillame announced that his variety show Wowowin is set to return on AMBS since its final broadcast on GMA Network on February 11, 2022.
