Under the "Bagong Pilipinas" initiative, the program offers a one-time ₱25,000 financial subsidy designed specifically to cushion the heavy out-of-pocket costs tied to clinical training and internships.


Easing the Burden of Clinical Training

While many students in state universities benefit from free tuition, mandatory Related Learning Experience (RLE) hours—including hospital rotations, community practicums, and field internships—often carry steep hidden costs.
According to CHED, the ₱25,000 grant is intended to directly help students cover essential training-related expenses, such as:



  • Transportation to and from shifting placements
  • Temporary lodging near hospital sites
  • Uniforms and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Special laboratory dues and training fees
  • Clinical supplies and consumables

Approved funds will be disbursed directly into the student’s Landbank account, completely bypassing messy school reimbursement paperwork.


Who is Eligible to Apply?

To qualify for the AHEAD Grant for the First Semester of Academic Year 2026–2027, an applicant must meet the following criteria:

  • Citizenship: Must be a Filipino citizen.
  • Enrollment Status: Enrolled in a CHED-recognized higher education institution (both public and private universities qualify).
  • Coursework: Must be actively taking courses with an RLE or clinical training component during the covered semester.

Priority will be given to students who are closest to graduation (such as incoming 4th-year students in traditional bachelor's programs or 6th-year students in doctoral tracks). Within those year levels, students with lower annual family incomes will be ranked higher.

Special Equity Bonus: Additional ranking points will be awarded to applicants belonging to vulnerable and recognized sectors, including Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), solo parents, indigenous peoples (IPs), and senior citizens.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet stringent qualifications:

  • Must be medically and physically fit for swimming and scuba diving.

  • Must pass the PCG Physical Fitness Test (PFT) and Swimming Qualification Test (SQT). (CPU provides intensive swimming training and daily morning swimming exercise).

  • Must be at least a High School Graduate with a General Weighted Average (GWA) of 90% and above, and no grades lower than 85%.

  • Must be single and have no legal dependents.

  • Must have no derogatory records or legal impediments.

  • Must possess excellent command of the English language and communication skills.

  • Applicants will undergo a six-month Mandarin Language Course in Taoyuan City prior to the Cadetship Program at CPU.

  • Must pass the American Language Course Placement Test (ALCPT) with a score of 85%, to be administered at Bachrach Building II, CG-12 Office, 23rd Street, Port Area, Manila, after passing the PFT and SQT.

Issuance of Test Permit

The pen and paper examination is scheduled on April 6-7, 2024. The qualified Applicant will be issued a Test Permit where his/her test center and test session and other pertinent information relative to the examination will be indicated. This will be sent to the Applicant’s registered email address sometime on February 2024.


Announcement of Scholarship Qualifiers

Check the SEI website: https://sei.dost.gov.ph for the announcements of the scholarship qualifiers tentatively on June 2024. If you qualify for the scholarship, you will be sent the Notice of Award through your registered email address.


Effectivity of Scholarship Award

A qualifier who accepts the scholarship award must attend the orientation on the scholarship policies and sign the Scholarship Agreement to become a DOST-SEI scholar. The scholarship award is effective the First Semester of AY 2024-2025.

The Ayala Foundation Scholarship is available to all eligible Filipinos. Ayala Foundation Inc. recently created a new scholarship, the U-Go Scholar Grant.



The scholarship grant was made possible by a collaboration between the education startup U-Go and the Ayala Foundation. The U-Go is available in Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Pakistan, Vietnam, and the Philippines, of course. This program aims to assist young women from economically underprivileged families in pursuing higher education.

What is the U-Go Scholar Grant?

The grant helps ambitious and promising young women pursue higher education by providing financial assistance.


What are the benefits?

If accepted, each scholar will get Php 40,000, which will be renewed annually (every year) as long as she maintains good academic performance.




Who are Eligible to Apply for the U-Go Scholar Grant?

The following qualifications, which are required of interested applicants, were given in the call for applications announcement:
  • Female
  • Filipino citizen
  • Incoming first-year, second year, or third-year college students for SY 23-24. Incoming fourth-year students for SY 23-24 may apply only if they are taking a five-year course. Students who are expecting to graduate SY 23-24 cannot apply
  • Enrolling in a public or state university/college for SY 23-24
  • With a desire to excel and a minimum GPA of 85% (or equivalent)
  • An active member of her community
  • Without any disciplinary or administrative cases
  • Aspires to bring positive change to society
  • A model of integrity in the community; and
  • With proof of financial need
