Travelers heading between Baguio City and Metro Manila will need to adjust their travel budgets following a newly implemented provisional fare increase for provincial buses.



Effective March 14, 2026, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has authorized a rate hike across various bus classifications to address rising operational costs. The order, officially signed on March 13, introduces a ₱0.35 per kilometer increase for air-conditioned provincial units.


New Rates for Baguio–Manila Routes

Under the updated matrix, the standard rate for regular air-conditioned provincial buses now stands at ₱2.45 per kilometer. For the approximately 300 km trip between Baguio and Cubao, the base fare has shifted to roughly ₱735, with most operators rounding the final price to ₱740.




Major carriers, including Victory Liner, have updated their ticketing systems to reflect these changes. Commuters can expect the following estimated rates for the Baguio–Cubao route:

  • Via Gerona, Tarlac: ₱740

  • Via TPLEX Urdaneta: ₱750

  • Deluxe (via TPLEX Pozorrubio): ₱871

  • First Class Express (Non-stop): ₱1,136

  • Royal Class Express (Non-stop): ₱1,646

Fares for trips to Pasay are slightly higher, ranging from ₱756 for standard trips to ₱1,682 for Royal Class services.



Breakdown of Fare Adjustments

The LTFRB’s decision impacts various bus tiers with specific incremental increases:

  • (Non-AC) +₱1.00 base fare; +₱0.30 per succeeding km

  • Regular Air-Con / Super Deluxe / Deluxe +₱0.35 per kilometer

  • Luxury Buses +₱0.45 per kilometer



Discounts and Reminders

Despite the hike, the mandatory 20% discount remains in effect for students, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities (PWDs). For a standard ₱740 trip to Cubao, discounted passengers will pay approximately ₱588.

The LTFRB reminds the public that fares may vary slightly depending on the specific route taken (such as use of the TPLEX) and the level of onboard amenities. Passengers are encouraged to check with their respective bus terminals for the most accurate and up-to-date pricing before heading out.

Bus Fare Hike: Baguio–Cubao Now ₱700+ One-Way


Several local government units have suspended classes on Monday, October 20, due to the inclement weather caused by Typhoon Ramil.



Below are the class suspensions for Monday, October 20, 2025:


Angeles City - no classes, all levels, public and private

Arayat, Pampanga - no face-to-face classes, all levels, public and private; shift to alternative learning modules

Cavite province - no classes, all levels, public and private

Montalban, Rizal - no face-to-face classes, all levels, public and private; shift to alternative learning modules

Roxas, Capiz - no classes, all levels, public and private (Oct. 20 to 22)

San Clemente, Tarlac - no face-to-face classes, all levels, public and private; shift to alternative learning modules

San Fernando, Pampanga - no face-to-face classes, all levels, public and private; shift to alternative learning modules


Tropical Storm RAMIL (international name: Fengshen) is on the brink of exiting the Luzon landmass, with its center last estimated in the vicinity of Olongapo City, Zambales, as of the 2:00 PM weather bulletin today, October 19, 2025.

The storm maintains its strength, packing maximum sustained winds of $65\text{ km/h}$ near the center and gusts of up to $90\text{ km/h}$. Moving west-northwestward at $15\text{ km/h}$, RAMIL is expected to fully emerge over the West Philippine Sea later this afternoon or evening, but its extensive wind field, stretching up to $430\text{ km}$ outwards, continues to threaten large portions of Luzon.



Despite its imminent exit, a wide swath of Central and Southern Luzon remains under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 2, warning of gale-force winds with speeds ranging from $62$ to $88\text{ km/h}$ over the next 24 hours.

Areas under this heightened alert include most of Pangasinan, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Zambales, portions of Bataan, and the northern and central parts of Metro Manila, including Quezon City and Taguig City.

These winds pose a minor to moderate threat to life and property, necessitating continued vigilance and preparedness for possible structural damage, especially to unshielded or lightly-built structures.



Meanwhile, TCWS No. 1, indicating strong winds, is in effect for an even larger area, including the rest of Metro Manila, Rizal, Laguna, Cavite, and provinces as far north as Cagayan and as far south as Occidental and Oriental Mindoro, and Burias Island.

Authorities have also warned that the storm's trough and outer rainbands, coupled with the easterlies, will continue to bring strong to gale-force gusts to areas not under a wind signal, such as the Caluya Islands, Bicol Region, and Eastern Visayas, today.

Residents are strongly advised to refer to the latest severe weather advisories for information on expected heavy rainfall and associated risks like flooding and landslides.

Recovery efforts are underway in parts of Luzon, but the effects of Super Typhoon Nando (international name: Ragasa) and the enhanced southwest monsoon continue to be felt, prompting several local government units (LGUs) to suspend classes for Wednesday, September 24.



Although Super Typhoon Nando has exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), its trough and the enhanced southwest monsoon, or habagat, continue to bring heavy rainfall and strong winds to parts of the country. Several local government units in Northern Luzon have announced the suspension of classes for Tuesday, September 23, 2025, as Super Typhoon Nando (international name: Ragasa) and the enhanced southwest monsoon continue to batter the region.



According to the state weather bureau PAGASA's 2:00 PM update today, the super typhoon's center was located over the coastal waters of Babuyan Island, Calayan, Cagayan. "Nando" is moving very close to the Babuyan Islands, maintaining maximum sustained winds of 215 km/h near the center and gusts up to 295 km/h.

PAGASA has raised Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals over several areas due to the super typhoon's powerful winds and gusts:

TCWS No. 5: Babuyan Islands

TCWS No. 4: Southern Batanes and northern portions of mainland Cagayan and Ilocos Norte.

TCWS No. 3: The rest of Batanes, central mainland Cagayan, northern and central Apayao, and the rest of Ilocos Norte.

TCWS No. 2: The rest of mainland Cagayan, Isabela, the rest of Apayao, Abra, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, parts of Nueva Vizcaya, Ilocos Sur, and parts of La Union.

TCWS No. 1: Quirino, the rest of Nueva Vizcaya, the rest of Benguet, the rest of La Union, Pangasinan, Aurora, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Zambales, and the northern portion of Quezon including Polillo Islands.




According to the forecast, Super Typhoon Nando is expected to pass very close to or make landfall over Calayan Island between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM today. It may maintain its strength or further intensify before it is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility tomorrow morning.

Residents in affected areas are advised to remain vigilant, take necessary precautions, and monitor local government and PAGASA updates for further advisories.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) announced on Monday that classes at all levels will be suspended in several parts of Luzon on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, due to persistent heavy rains brought by the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat).

The SM North EDSA Transport Terminal is one of Metro Manila's largest and most comprehensive transportation hubs, strategically located alongside the massive SM City North EDSA mall complex. Understanding its layout and services is key to a seamless journey.



Terminal Overview

The SM North EDSA Transport Terminal is an expansive facility designed to integrate various modes of public transportation. It's often referred to interchangeably with the wider transport infrastructure surrounding the mall, including the MRT-3 North Avenue Station and the EDSA Carousel bus stops. The terminal aims to provide a convenient and organized space for commuters, alleviating congestion on surrounding roads.


Location: Directly connected to SM City North EDSA, accessible from North Avenue and EDSA.

Purpose: To serve as a consolidated point for buses, jeepneys, UV Express vans, and P2P (Point-to-Point) buses, offering a wide range of routes.

Key Features: Organized bays for different vehicle types, waiting areas, and direct access to the mall for amenities. The new SM North EDSA Busway Concourse has also significantly enhanced connectivity to the EDSA Carousel.

Modes of Transport and Routes

The terminal services a diverse array of public utility vehicles (PUVs), connecting passengers to numerous destinations.


1. EDSA Carousel Busway Concourse

This newly opened concourse (as of March 2025) directly links SM City North EDSA to the EDSA Carousel bus line. It provides improved, comfortable, and protected access to the dedicated bus lanes along EDSA.

Routes: The EDSA Carousel operates along the entire length of EDSA, connecting Monumento in Caloocan to the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) in Parañaque, with numerous stops in between (including Cubao, Ortigas, Ayala, Taft Avenue, etc.). This is ideal for fast travel along EDSA.


2. City Buses

Traditional city buses connect SM North EDSA to various parts of Metro Manila.

Common Routes (examples, subject to change):

  • Southbound along EDSA: Towards Cubao, Ortigas, Ayala, Pasay, Alabang, etc.

  • Commonwealth Avenue Routes: Connecting to areas like Fairview, Litex, San Jose del Monte, etc.

  • Other City Destinations: Routes to Divisoria, Quiapo, Baclaran, Market! Market!, BGC (often via P2P).

  • Terminals/Stops: Look for designated loading bays within the terminal complex for specific bus routes.


3. Provincial Buses

Buses that connect Metro Manila (via SM North EDSA) to provinces primarily in Central and Northern Luzon.

Common Destinations: Provinces in Bulacan, Pampanga, Tarlac, Bataan, Zambales, Pangasinan, Baguio, etc.

Note: Not all provincial bus lines operate from this specific terminal. Some may have their own terminals in nearby areas or require transfer at other major hubs like PITX or Araneta City Bus Port.



4. UV Express Vans (Utility Vehicle Express)

Air-conditioned vans that offer faster, point-to-point services, often with fixed routes and fares. They are popular for commuters who prefer a quicker ride.

  • Various subdivisions and towns in Quezon City (e.g., Novaliches, Fairview, Mindanao Ave. areas).

  • Parts of Bulacan and Rizal (e.g., Santa Maria, Pandi, Montalban).

  • Routes to other parts of Metro Manila like Technohub, Ayala, Eton Centris, etc.

Terminals/Stops: UV Express usually has dedicated loading areas within the terminal or around the perimeter of SM North EDSA.


5. Public Utility Jeepneys (PUJs)

The iconic Philippine jeepneys offer local routes within Quezon City and immediate neighboring areas.

Common Routes (examples, subject to change):

  • Routes along Mindanao Avenue, Congressional Avenue.

  • Towards Project 6, Project 8, Pag-asa.

  • The SM North EDSA Busway Concourse itself is designed to provide continuous access to this service. Therefore, while the mall itself has operating hours, the concourse specifically for the EDSA Carousel is accessible whenever the EDSA Carousel is running.

  • However, while the system operates 24/7, the frequency of buses may vary, especially during off-peak hours (late night to early morning). Most buses operate from around 4:00 AM to 11:00 PM, but some do run throughout the night.


2. P2P (Point-to-Point) Buses:

  • P2P bus services usually have fixed schedules that can vary by route. For example, a P2P bus from SM North EDSA to Plaridel might run from 5:30 AM to 10:30 PM.

  • It's best to check the specific P2P bus operator's website or app (e.g., P2P Bus PH) for the most accurate and up-to-date schedules for your desired route.


3. UV Express Vans:

  • UV Express services generally operate from around 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM (22:00) daily.

  • Like P2P buses, their schedules can be route-dependent and may have slightly reduced frequency during off-peak hours or on holidays.


4. City Buses and Jeepneys:

  • City buses that use the regular lanes (not the EDSA Carousel) and jeepneys typically start operations very early, often around 3:00 AM to 4:00 AM, and run until late at night, sometimes as late as 11:00 PM or midnight, depending on the specific route and demand.

  • Some routes, especially major ones, might have limited services through the night, but this is less common for local jeepneys.


5. Provincial Buses:

  • Provincial bus schedules vary widely by destination and bus company. Some have early morning departures (e.g., 2:00 AM or 3:00 AM) and late-night arrivals. You'd need to consult the specific bus line's schedule.


In summary:

The SM North EDSA Transport Terminal is generally active from very early morning (around 3:00 AM - 4:00 AM) until late at night (around 10:00 PM - 12:00 AM) for most services. The EDSA Carousel Concourse itself is effectively open 24/7 to facilitate access to the EDSA Carousel busway, which also operates continuously.
