Here are the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) official entries for 2019.


The 2019 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) is the 45th edition of the annual Metro Manila Film Festival held in Metro Manila and throughout the Philippines. It is organized by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA). During the festival, no foreign films are shown in Philippine theaters (except IMAX and 4D theaters).

ABOUT THE METRO MANILA FILM FESTIVAL

The Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) is an annual film festival held in Metro Manila, the Philippines. The festival, which runs from December 25 (Christmas) through New Year's Day and into first weekend of January in the following year, focuses on Filipino films.

The Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Executive Committee announced four of the eight official entries in July 2019.




The first four films were selected based from the scripts submitted until May 31, 2019.
Kampon was originally one of first four entries but was disqualified due to the late filing of its producers for a change in its leading actor after Derek Ramsay withdrew from the project. Kampon was replaced by Sunod which was the next in line entry for the horror genre.

Here are the 8 official entries for the said film festival:

1. Miracle in Cell No. 7

Catch the FAMAS and Gawad Urian awardee Aga Muhlach and acclaimed drama actress Bela Padilla in the much-awaited Philippine remake of 'Miracle in Cell No. 7.'

Introducing Xia Vigor, John Arcilla, Joel Torre, JC Santos, Mon Confiado, Jojit Lorenzo, and Soliman  Cruz, with special participation of Tirso Cruz III. Screenplay by Mel Mendoza Del Rosario. Directed by Nuel Naval.

2. Mission Unstapabol: The Don Identity

Tonton Gutierrez, Vic Sotto, Jake Cuenca, Wally Bayola, Jose Manalo, Pokwang, and Maine Mendoza in Mission Unstapabol: The Don Identity (2019)
Mission Unstapabol: The Don Identity is a 2019 Philippine comedy film to be directed by Linnet Zurbano and starring Vic Sotto and Maine Mendoza.

3. The Mall, The Merrier

The Mall, The Merrier is a 2019 Philippine musical family comedy film directed by Barry Gonzales, starring Vice Ganda and Anne Curtis.

4. Sunod

5. 3pol Trobol: Huli Ka Balbon

Coco Martin plays a cop who is out to prove his innocence after he was framed for the murder of his boss. He is joined by Jennylyn Mercado, Ai-Ai delas Alas, and Sam Milby in the movie.

The movie is directed by Coco under CCM Productions.

In the 1940s, Anna, Doris, and Ditas are three leper patients who live in Culion at a time when the disease is practically a life sentence. No cure has yet been found, and no one is allowed to leave.

Anna (Iza Calzado) never loses hope that soon a cure will be found, even when her baby is taken away from her. Doris (Jasmine Curtis-Smith) believes in the myth that a beautiful diwata will soon heal the place. Ditas (Meryll Soriano) keeps attempting to kill herself, helpless against the onslaught of memories from the outside world.

Together the three friends try to negotiate a life of stigma that seesaws between hope and despair, redefining their roles as women, mother, friend, and human being. In the end they prove that neither disease nor death can erase their humanity and their capacity to endure.

7. Mindanao

Saima is the mother of a cancer-stricken kid and the wife of a medic deployed in a conflict of aggression in southern Philippines. An animation portraying a legendary brother fighting a dragon takes place in the story.

Mindanao is a 2019 Philippine drama film directed by Brillante Mendoza starring Judy Ann Santos and Allen Dizon.

8. Write About Love

"Write About Love" tells the story of a young female writer (Miles Ocampo) who teams up with a seasoned male writer (Rocco Nacino).

Both must work together to rewrite the script of an unfinished love story (with characters played by Joem Bascon and music superstar Yeng Constantino).
