AirAsia announces P8 promo fare for Boracay flights as island reopens to local tourists.

Following the reopening of Boracay to tourists, AirAsia on Tuesday announced its P8 promotional base fares for flights to the island destination.

In an advisory, AirAsia said it will offer P8 base fares for select Boracay flights booked from Tuesday, September 29 to Sunday, October 4.

Flights covered by the promo are those for travel between October 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021.

To avail, AirAsia advised travelers to use the promo code BORA8 which also offers SNAP deals of up to 30% off on flights.

"The reopening of Boracay is a great step forward in jumpstarting the travel and tourism industry of the Philippines," said AirAsia Philippines chief executive officer Ricky Isla.

"The overall implementation of this reopening will be the model for the restoration of leisure travel to more domestic destinations," he added.

Starting October 2, flights from Manila leave for Caticlan at 12:35 p.m. every Wednesday, and arrive at 1:40 p.m.

The frequencies will be increased to every Wednesday and Friday starting October 7, and to every Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday starting October 11.

The inter-agency trask force for the management of emerging infectious diseases (IATF-EID) last week approved the reopening of Boracay to local tourists.

Tourists, however, must come from general community quarantine (GCQ) areas and must first test negative for a swab test of the coronavirus disease 2019 before leaving for Boracay.

All not-Aklanon tourists must present the following:
  • a medical certificate issued by any government physician;
  • a travel authority pass issued by the Philippine National Police;
  • a health declaration card from aklan.gov.ph;
  • and booking confirmation details for their accommodation.

"As the health and safety of our guests are always a top priority, we will ensure that our stringent protocols are strictly carried out and observed properly by all," said Isla.
