Besides Boracay, there are many other tourist destinations that you can try. Here are the recommendations:

What To Do in The Philippines?

1. Banaue Rice Terraces

As previously mentioned, the Philippines is one of the largest agricultural countries in Asia, especially rice. So, it is only natural that there are tourist attractions in the Philippines in the form of rice terraces.

The name of the tourist spot is Banaue Rice Terraces. In addition to its very beautiful natural charm, Banaue Rice Terraces also get the title of the highest terracing in the world.

Not a few people call it a ladder to the sky. And please note that the Philippines can grow rice, with good results, even without fertilizer. The location of Banaue Rice Terraces is found in the mountainous province of Ifugao in the Philippines.

2. Chocolate Hills

You may wonder, is Chocolate Hills related to food or chocolate candy? The answers are completely unrelated. Chocolate Hills is a hilly region in the Philippines. This name is taken from the color of the hills which turn brown when the dry season arrives. This brown color appears from the dry grass that covers the hill.

The number of hills in the Chocolate Hills area is very large. The number even reaches 1,500 with hill heights varying from 30 to 120 meters. The Chocolate Hills are so unique that they have been designated as a UNESCO world heritage site.

3. Intramuros

Located in the City of Manila, a recommendation for historical and instagrammable tourist attractions is Intramuros. This city is an old city, which is historic. You have to know that in terms of architecture, and the atmosphere conveys a Spanish flavor.

The existence of Spanish architecture and atmosphere is not without reason. Intramuros is a fairly old city in Manila. This city is also a silent witness to the Spanish colonization of the Philippines for 300 years.

Intramuros is a fortress with an area of 4.5 kilometers, and in it, there are other historical buildings, such as The Church, which has the status of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the old manila house, Prophet Jesus Painting, and Fort Santiago. Visitors can walk around the area or by using a rickshaw. The atmosphere is comfortable and calm.

4. Vigan

Another UNESCO world heritage site in the Philippines is the City of Vigan. This area is very historic in the Philippines because it is a silent witness to the Spanish colonization of the Philippines. This city is popular and a tourist destination for foreign tourists who come to visit.

The arrangement of the Vigan area is very detailed and neat. You will probably agree with this statement when you see the building's architecture, ornaments, road conditions, layout of the building, statues, and the philosophy of the layout of the church.

The old city of Vigan can present romantic and instagramable tours in the Philippines. Especially when it starts to dusk, the lights start to turn on, so visitors will feel the atmosphere, and the view is very beautiful.

Must-Dos For The Perfect Boracay Vacation

Boracay will no longer require fully vaccinated tourists to submit a negative RT-PCR test results starting November 16, the Department of Tourism (DOT) said Friday.

"The DOT welcomes the announcement of Aklan Governor Florencio Miraflores on the decision to waive the RT-PCR test for fully vaccinated tourists as a requirement to enter Boracay starting November 16," it said.

The Aklan government on November 12 confirmed that guests would only need to submit proof of vaccination with a QR code in lieu of the test.

In a radio interview, Miraflores said tourists may either submit a VaxCert secured via vaxcert.doh.gov.ph or a vaccine certificate issued by their respective local government unit.

The official said this move is one of the province's measures to revive tourism activities on the resort island.

Boracay had experienced a dramatic increase in tourist arrivals in the last two months, with a total of 32,452 visitors in October 2021 alone, the DOT said.

"We hope to see even more visitors for the months of November and December, given this positive development, and ensure everyone's safety altogether now that Boracay's fully vaxxed tourism workers are at 94 percent, while its entire eligible population is at 70 percent vaccinated," the DOT said.

The DOT, in coordination with National Task Force against Covid-19 chief implementer Carlito Galvez, Jr. and deputy chief implementer Vince Dizon, initiated the vaccination program for tourism workers in Boracay last July.

The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) had allowed the movement of persons traveling in and out of NCR Plus was extended up to June 30.

President Rodrigo Duterte announced earlier this week that NCR Plus would remain under general community quarantine (GCQ) with varying degrees of restrictions.

Resolution 121 of the IATF allows interzonal travel between areas under GCQ and MGCQ for leisure purposes. However, tourists coming from Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal may only undertake point-to-point travel to GCQ and MGCQ areas.

Accredited staycation hotels in all GCQ areas were allowed to accommodate leisure guests of up to 100 percent of their capacity. Other DOT-accredited establishments in GCQ areas may operate at 30 percent capacity only for guests coming from the same household and subject to the strict monitoring of the local government unit.

Until June 30, outdoor tourist attractions in GCQ areas, including NCR and Bulacan, may operate at 50 percent capacity, while those in Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal may operate at 30 percent capacity with strict adherence to minimum public health and safety guidelines.

Indoor tourist attractions such as museums and historical sites will be allowed to operate at 50 percent capacity in GCQ areas, at 30 percent in the NCR and Bulacan. They are not allowed in Laguna, Cavite, and Rizal.

Essential meetings and events which include Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) activities, and social events such as weddings, birthday celebrations, are allowed in GCQ areas at up to 50 percent of the capacity, except for NCR and Bulacan where essential meetings are only allowed at up to 30 percent of the capacity and social events are allowed at up to 10 percent.

Establishments in NCR and Bulacan granted with the government’s Safety Seal may have an additional 10 percent capacity in their operations. All these events remain prohibited in Laguna, Cavite, and Rizal.

Boracay has finally reopened!

One of the most important changes implemented after the reopening of Boracay is that visitors who are planning to spend at least one night on the island must show proof of accommodations. And it shouldn’t be just any accommodation. It has to be an accredited establishment.

That being said, HOTEL BOOKING IS REQUIRED when staying in Boracay for at least one night. So if you’re planning to visit the island to see the changes yourself, make sure to book your stay at any of these DoT-accredited hotels in Boracay. It also pays to know about the island’s new entry process.
