Visiting Bataan but tired of long drive and traffic jam? No worries! 1Bataan Integrated Transport System to the rescue!

From the usual 4-5 hours of travel by land from Manila to Bataan, travelers can now reach the Mall of Asia (MOA) in exactly 50 minutes with the launching of the air-conditioned Fast Ferry boat via Manila Bay.

Me and my friends were headed to Playa La Caleta Beach Resort in Morong, Bataan last weekend. We were thinking of the best way to our destination when one of us suggested to try the new ferry service of 1Bataan that was launched last February this year.

Catching a bus ride was our first choice. Since we just need to arrive at 2pm to our destination, we have plenty of time to travel. The normal route will include a 2 to 3-hour bus ride to Balanga, more or less an hour jeepney ride from Balanga to Bagac and a 20-minute boat ride from the jumpoff to Playa La Caleta. That will cost us 4-5 hours travel time from Manila depending on the traffic.

But thank God, 1Bataan is now optional! Imagine, in about 45 minutes we can reach Orion, Bataan which is just an hour away from Bagac!

We already boarded before 6:30am. I was surprised that they have a couch in front with VIP seats.

THE FERRY RIDE EXPERIENCE

The ferry is fully airconditioned, has free WiFi, restroom, water dispenser and safety kit such as life vest. What I love is the cozy seats. You can even take a nap, relaxing it is! It's like you were riding a plane.

What I also noticed is that the ferry is very spacious and clean. The life vests are located underneath the seats. The crew are very accommodating.

The trip was fast and time-accurate. I didn't feel the waves. We didn't notice the time. We arrived before 7:30am.

ARRIVAL AT PORT CAPINPIN, ORION, BATAAN

Passengers can avail free shuttle bus/van from Port Capinpin in Orion, Bataan to different drop-off points in Mariveles, Dinalupihan and Balanga.

In our case, we booked a Hyundai Starex van from kuya Akal for P1500 only (one way ride) to Bagac (Fajardo Beach) since we were 10. You can reach him on 0906 540 9762. Kuya Akal is residing just next to the port. You can just ask his name from any of the staff their if you need a ride. He also accepts trips to any destinations in Bataan or even outside the province. Please ask him for the rates.

We haven't eaten a legit breakfast. Thanks to Kuya Akal, he brought us to the nearest Jollibee drive through in Balanga.

GOING BACK TO MANILA

The next day (Sunday), we asked kuya Akal to pick us up at Fajardo Beach to bring us back to Port Capinpin to depart at 3:45pm to Manila.

This port is clean and neat. There are plenty of seats for the boarding passengers. There are clean rest rooms. I also noticed a water dispenser where you can drink purified water. Most importantly, it has a good security staff. They asked us to put our bags in line to get inspected by their security dog. The dog was cute though. Hehehe
