Who Takes Civil Service Exam?

The CSE is open to Filipino citizens who meet the eligibility requirements set by the CSC. Individuals aspiring to work in government positions, whether in national agencies, local government units, or government-owned and controlled corporations, are encouraged to take the exam. There are two levels of the exam: the Professional Level and the Subprofessional Level, each catering to different job positions and qualifications.

Tips for Before, During, and After the Civil Service Exam

1. Familiarize Yourself with the Coverage

Before the exam day, take the time to review the topics included in the CSE. These may include the Philippine Constitution, Environment Management and Protection, Peace and Human Rights Issues and Concepts, and Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees. A thorough understanding of these subjects will better prepare you for the exam.

2. Prepare the Necessary Requirements

On the exam day, ensure you have all the required documents ready. Remember to bring your exam receipts, confirmation slip, and a valid ID. Double-checking these requirements beforehand will help avoid any last-minute issues.

3. Arrive Early at the Venue

Arriving early at the testing venue is crucial to ensure a smooth and stress-free experience. Testing venues typically open at 6:00 AM and close by 7:30 AM, so plan your travel accordingly. Consider visiting the site beforehand to familiarize yourself with the location and minimize the risk of getting lost on the exam day.

4. Bring Sufficient Writing Materials

The CSC strictly allows only black ballpoint pens for the exam. To avoid any issues during the exam, make sure you have an extra set of black ball pens with you. Gel pens, sign pens, fountain pens, friction pens, or colored pens are prohibited, so it's essential to adhere to this requirement.

5. Dress Appropriately

The CSC requires all examinees to dress appropriately for the exam. Avoid wearing slippers, shorts, sleeveless tops, or any other casual attire. Make sure to comply with the dress code and don't forget to wear a face mask as well, in adherence to health protocols.

6. Exercise Patience While Waiting for Results

After completing the exam, exercise patience while waiting for the results. If you pass, the CSC will issue a Certification of Eligibility approximately a month after announcing the exam results. Simply bring your application receipt and a valid ID for claiming. Meanwhile, continue to stay updated on any announcements from the CSC regarding the release of exam results.
