10 Best Campsites in Tanay, Rizal (with Rates and Contact Details)

Looking for a place to cool off this summer? Ready your jackets, here's a list of places in the Philippines you should visit for cold weather.

Many people from all over the world choose to spend their holidays in the Philippines to escape the cold and enjoy the country’s warm weather. But for many locals, the scorching Philippine heat can sometimes be unbearable.

While summer has always been a time for escapades and travel escapes to beat the heat, the best we can do during these trying times is to make the most out of our summer at home and look forward to better days.

For those who are looking to cool off by going to the beach, check out my list of 7 Must-Visit Beaches Near Manila For Weekend Getaway!

In the list below, we gathered the top 10 places with a cool breeze that offers a ton of activities you can enjoy.
Loading...

1. Baguio

Known as the “Summer capital of the Philippines,” Baguio is a favorite destination for its cool climate being 5,200 feet above sea level. Situated in high terrain, its low temperature makes it an ideal place for those wanting a quick escape and good chilly weather.

Me in Baguio in 2012

The strawberry capital has an impressive list of activities to try– from food tripping, sightseeing, thrift shopping, and other exciting activities. While tourism made it an urbanized city, Baguio still boasts of many natural attractions that tourists keep coming back to.

2. Sagada

Located 5,300 feet above sea level, Sagada in Mountain Province offers cool weather that can go down to as low as 50 ̊F (10 ̊ C) by around January or February. It is the perfect trip for adventure seekers looking for a thrilling nature escapade.

Overlooking Sagada in 2003

Surrounded by scenic Cordillera mountains, enveloped in the cold, crisp air, Sagada is the perfect place for nature lovers and hiking enthusiasts. Explore the wonders of Sumaguing Cave or the view of a sea of clouds in Kiltepan or in Marlboro Hills. The wintry cold calls for a sip of Kape Alamid, a local coffee made of civet poop.

3. Antipolo

The nearest option by many of us is just a few minutes drive from the Metro Manila. Antipolo City is the capital of Rizal province and a popular destination for weekend getaways among local travelers.

Antipolo sits at the foot of the longest mountain range in the country called the Sierra Madre. The tallest part of Antipolo stands at an elevation of 137 meters, giving its surrounding areas a cooler climate and a great vantage point for enjoying a panoramic view of the Manila skyline best experienced at Antipolo restaurants and Antipolo coffee shops.

4. Tagaytay

Another go-to place for a quick refreshing getaway is found in Cavite. Just a few hours away from the national region, Tagaytay City has become a favorite destination all year round.

Taal Volcano, one of the world’s smallest active volcanos, serves as a stunning backdrop in various commercial establishments in Tagaytay. From enjoying a bowl of bulalo to buying pineapples or exploring a new restaurant, Tagaytay is a favorite destination not just for local tourists but for foreigners as well.

5. Calamba

You may not believe it, but the breeze in this city in Laguna gives you a nice refreshing air, too. Located at the foot of the famous Mt. Makiling, every morning is perfect for sweater weather.

A view of Mt. Makiling from Calamba, Laguna

Calamba, Laguna has a lot of tourist spots, including the hot spring resorts in Pansol, which are popular among locals but not from outside the region.

6. Real

Located on the eastern shores of Luzon facing the Philippine Sea, this laid-back town is not only known for its beach but for its mountainous beauty. I've been to Real, Quezon once and going through its mountain roads, it was a nice jacket-weather.

7. DoƱa Remedios Trinidad

DoƱa Remedios Trinidad, or simply “DRT” as it is fondly called. The place sometimes tagged as “Bulacan’s last Frontier”, occupying one-third of the land area of the province, and home to diverse flora and fauna.

An Airbnb from DoƱa Remedios Trinidad

The majestic landscape of hills, valleys and mountains. The cool, and clean waters of rivers and streams. The clean air in the meadows and farmlands. The gliding birds freely floating in the breeze, sleuthing at their preys at bushes and trees underneath.

8. Don Salvador Benedicto

Don Salvador Benedicto is dubbed Negros Occidental’s “Little Baguio” because its cool atmosphere is 2,500 feet above sea level on Negros Island. This growing tourist attraction features a rice terrace and the “Cigarette” Falls called Malatan-og. Road adventures along Magnetic Hills are also gaining popularity in the area.

Magnetic Hills of Don Salvador Benedicto

With pine-scented air and gorgeous mountain views, Don Salvador Benedicto is a great alternative to Baguio, especially when you want to avoid large crowds.

9. Lantapan

There are many places in Bukidnon that experience cooler weather than the rest of the Philippines, but the coldest among them is Lantapan. Located 4,000 above sea level, the weather here is so cold that there are times that dew lingers until noon.

Lantapan, Bukidnon

Lantapan is also the gateway to the second tallest peak in the Philippines following Mount Apo. Mount Dulang Dulang can be accessed through Brgy. Songco in Lantapan which is why this location sees a lot of mountaineers on their way to an exciting journey.

10. Lake Sebu

The southern region of the Philippines has its own Summer Capital and that is Lake Sebu. Located in South Cotabato, there’s really more to this place than just postcard-worthy lakes and cooling winds.

Lake Sebu

Lake Sebu has resorts where travelers can lounge and enjoy the wonderful weather and scenery. The seven waterfalls of Lake Sebu are the locale’s most popular attractions. One can either hike up to view the falls or take a zipline to enjoy a bird’s eye view.

Which of these have you been yet? Let us know in the comments if you have more places in the Philippines to suggest for a quick getaway!

Too much stress this pandemic? Here's a list of best places near Metro Manila where you can unwind for your sanity.

It's been already more than 6 months since our country is put on different levels of community quarantine. Most of us stayed at home as best advised by our government and recommended by the health specialists. Others needed to go out for work and for necessities. We don't forget our frontliners who continuously fight for us to live well and save lives from COVID-19.

All of these things, plus those daily news, are too much for our brains. I know how hard it is to stay at home and do the same things repeatedly in half a year. Many of us can't afford to do other things because we lack money or resources to survive.

That's why we need a break. We need some air to breathe. We need to see a new sight for hope.

So here, I present to you 10 resorts and BnBs (Bed and Breakfast) where you can relax and escape away from the stress.

Here's my list of places we deserve to go to after all these quarantines we had:

  1. Casa Amara - San Juan, Batangas
  2. Glamping Etc. - Cavinti, Laguna
  3. Narra Hill - Laurel, Batangas
  4. Tudor in the Pines - Baguio, Benguet
  5. Antipolo Star Resort - Antipolo, Rizal
  6. Kwentong Dagat - San Felipe, Zambales
  7. Casa Angelina - Cabagan, Zambales
  8. Villa Elisha - Antipolo, Rizal
  9. Ridges and Clouds Nature Camp - Tanay, Rizal
  10. La Bella - Tagaytay, Cavite

1. Casa Amara

What started out as a vacation house in Batangas grew into a resort-type of accommodation when the owners added rooms and decided to rent out the rooms to the early guests. This mansion-like house is now known as Casa Amara. The owners maintain that it is more of a private house with rooms for rent than a resort.

Casa Amara is best known for having a Santorini-vibe where all you can see everything in white and complemented with blue. It is also a favorite spot for prenups and small weddings because of its garden ambiance above a ridge. The view of Tayabas Bay is perfect from their infinity pool. With these, you can enjoy and relax the view and the full experience at the resort.
