The Department of Transportation (DOTr) officially launched the expansion of the Siargao Airport passenger terminal building with a ceremonial groundbreaking led by DOTr Secretary Vince B. Dizon on Friday in Sayak, Del Carmen.



The P95.2-million infrastructure project marks a major upgrade for Siargao’s main gateway, aiming to significantly boost capacity, improve traveler comfort, and support the island’s growing tourism industry.


Once completed, the expanded terminal will double in size—from 716 to 1,531 square meters—and increase the number of check-in counters from 3 to 9. Passenger capacity will also rise dramatically, from 200 to 750 people at a time, easing congestion and long wait times that have plagued the current facility.

“Our local and foreign tourists deserve better,” said Sec. Dizon during the ceremony. “That’s why President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ordered us to improve the travel experience here in Siargao—because this island is one of our most important tourism destinations.”




Also present was Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco, who hailed the expansion as a “gateway to greater prosperity.” She emphasized that the project is not just about upgrading an airport but about delivering on a national vision of tourism-led growth and development.

“As Siargao’s popularity rises, it’s crucial that we build the infrastructure to match demand,” Frasco said. “This expansion is a collaborative effort between the public and private sectors to make travel more efficient and enjoyable, while also generating jobs and economic activity for the community.”



Siargao Airport, also known as Sayak Airport, currently handles 18 flights daily. However, increasing tourist arrivals have placed pressure on its facilities. The expansion project directly responds to this demand, aligning with broader goals to modernize the country’s air transport network.

The upgraded terminal is expected to provide not just more space, but a more seamless and comfortable travel experience—strengthening Siargao’s status as a world-class destination.




Officials from both the DOTr and DOT affirmed that the project would be completed efficiently, with construction beginning immediately following the groundbreaking ceremony.

For travelers and locals alike, the upgraded Siargao Airport promises to be a symbol of progress—where tourism, infrastructure, and community development go hand in hand.

Siargao Airport Expansion Breaks Ground, Set to Triple Passenger Capacity


The Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) has introduced a new, reduced overnight parking rate for verified passengers and other legitimate airport users, effective Friday, August 1.



The move, announced by the New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) in a Facebook post, aims to make parking more accessible and to ensure that parking facilities are efficiently managed and available for those who genuinely use the airport.

Under the new system, verified passengers who park their vehicles at any of the NAIA terminals (Terminal 1, 2, or 3) will be able to avail of a 50% discount on the standard overnight rate.



To qualify for the reduced rate, passengers must keep their parking ticket and boarding pass from their trip. Upon their return, they need to present both documents at the validation counter. Once verified, they will be charged a discounted rate of ₱600 for overnight parking.



While this new rate is still higher than the original ₱300 overnight rate, it is a significant reduction from the ₱1,200 rate that the NNIC implemented last October.



The NNIC stated that the new system will help to keep parking slots available and convenient for NAIA's intended users.

That's because NAIA's four terminals aren't connected by walkways, meaning you'll need a ride to get from one flight to your next. But don't sweat it! Free Ride: NAIA Inter-Terminal Shuttle Bus

The good news is, you don't always need to hail a taxi or book a Grab. The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), now under the management of the New NAIA Infrastructure Corporation (NNIC) since September 2024, provides a free shuttle bus service that runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.


These buses are air-conditioned and have plenty of space for your luggage, ensuring a comfortable ride between any of the terminals – whether you're hopping from T1 to T3, T4 to T2, or any other combination.

While this shuttle service used to run about once an hour, NNIC has been working to improve passenger mobility. You might find the buses are now more frequent than before, with aims to cut down those waiting times. Still, it's always smart to allot ample time for transfers – sometimes you just miss a bus!




How to Hop On

It’s pretty straightforward! Just show your ticket or boarding pass to the driver. The only catch is your onward flight needs to be within the next 24 hours.


Where to Catch Your Shuttle

Knowing where to wait is half the battle. Here's where you'll find the free shuttle bus at each terminal's arrival curbside:

  • Terminal 1: Keep an eye out for a huge sign that says "AIRPORT SHUTTLE / TRANSFER SERVICE" at the arrival curbside. You can't miss it!

  • Terminal 2: Head to the arrival curbside, right next to pick-up bay 19.

  • Terminal 3: This one takes a little walk. After you exit the baggage claim area, turn left and stroll towards the very end of the terminal. Once you reach the far end, turn left again. You should then spot the sign for the "Terminal Transfer Bus" or "For passengers with connecting flights to Terminal 1, 2, and 4."

Need to Dash? Your Paid Alternatives

Sometimes, time is of the essence, or you just prefer a more private ride. In those cases, you have reliable alternatives:

  • Taxis: You'll find accredited taxi stands outside all terminals. These can be a quick option, but always make sure the driver uses the meter or agree on a fare beforehand.

  • Grab (Ride-Hailing Services): Grab is a game-changer for terminal transfers. Simply book a car through the Grab app, and it's often a very efficient choice, especially if you're loaded with luggage.

  • NAIA Terminal 3: Grab pickups are centralized at the Multi-Level Parking (MLP) Level A. Just follow the signs and coordinate with your driver via the app.

  • NAIA Terminal 1 & 2: The app will guide you to specific, designated bays for Grab pickups.

The good news is, a newly constructed expressway connects most of the NAIA terminals, meaning travel time between them via car or Grab is much shorter than it used to be.



Moving between NAIA's terminals doesn't have to be a headache. With the free shuttle service and convenient ride-hailing options, you can navigate your way to your next flight with less stress. Just remember to always factor in ample time for transfers, and you'll be well on your way!

Taoyuan Airport MRT A12 Station

1. Taoyuan Airport MRT (Metro)


Fastest and most efficient way to get to downtown Taipei.

Express service (purple line) reaches Taipei Main Station in ~35–38 minutes.

Commuter service (blue line) makes all stops and takes about 50 minutes.

Fare: NT$150 (approx. USD 5). Pay cashless with an EasyCard to skip the line.

Hours: ~6:00 AM to 11:00 PM.

MRT stations are located in the B2 level of both terminals.

Arrival at Taoyuan International Airport (T1)

Taipei, the capital city, lies just 40 kilometers away, making it a quick 40- to 60-minute drive or a 35- to 45-minute ride via the Taoyuan Airport MRT to Taipei Main Station.

Taichung, situated in central Taiwan, is about 150 kilometers from the airport. Travelers can reach it in roughly two hours by car or around 1.5 hours using the Taiwan High-Speed Rail (HSR) from Taoyuan HSR Station, including transfer time from the airport.

Kaohsiung, Taiwan’s major southern metropolis, is approximately 300 kilometers away and can be reached in 3.5 to 4.5 hours by car or just under two hours via HSR.

Other cities are also accessible from Taoyuan International Airport. Hsinchu, a technology hub, is only about an hour away by car or 30 to 40 minutes by HSR. Further south, Tainan and Chiayi can be reached in 3 to 4 hours by car or a bit faster via high-speed rail. For travelers headed to Taiwan’s scenic east coast, Hualien and Taitung are more remote; while the straight-line distance may not seem far, the mountainous terrain means trips typically take 4 to 6 hours by car or train, often involving transfers through Taipei. Taoyuan International Airport Transfer Guide: How to Get to Taipei, Taichung & More (by Train, Bus & Taxi)


In an effort to reduce congestion at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), the New NAIA Infrastructure Corp. (NNIC) has announced new terminal assignments for some of the country’s major airlines.



During a briefing on Monday, September 9, NNIC General Manager Angelito Alvarez detailed the changes, which will impact Philippine Airlines (PAL), Cebu Pacific, and AirAsia.

Terminal 1 will be exclusively for Philippine Airlines (PAL).

Terminal 2 will handle domestic flights for both PAL and Cebu Pacific.

Terminal 3 will be dedicated to all international flights.

Terminal 4 will serve AirAsia.
