The Civil Service Commission (CSC) has officially announced the forthcoming conduct of the Career Service Examination, Pen and Paper Test (CSE-PPT) for both Professional and SubProfessional Levels.



What is Career Service Examination, Pen and Paper Test (CSE-PPT)

The primary objective of the Career Service Examination is to establish a Register of Eligibles (RoE) from which certification and appointment to various positions in the civil service can be made. The RoE serves as a reference for filling vacancies in government agencies, ensuring that qualified individuals are appointed to positions based on merit and fitness. Additionally, the RoE may also serve as a reference for employment opportunities in the private sector.


Examination Date

  • Date of Examination: 11th August 2024
  • Target Release Date of Test Results: 20th October 2024

Application Period

  • Application Period: Applications will be accepted from 13th May 2024 to 13th June 2024.


Please note that the acceptance of applications will be on a FIRST-COME, FIRST-SERVED basis. The CSC Regional/Field Office reserves the right to close the application period before the deadline if the target number of applicants is reached.

Qualification and Requirements

To be eligible to take the CSE-PPT, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Filipino Citizen: Applicants must be Filipino citizens to qualify for the examination.

  2. Age Requirement: Applicants must be at least 18 years old on the date of filing the application. It's important to note that individuals who file their application but are later found to be non-compliant with the age requirement will be disqualified from taking the test.

  3. Good Moral Character: Applicants must possess good moral character, reflecting honesty, integrity, and ethical conduct.

  4. No Criminal Convictions: Individuals must not have been convicted by final judgment of an offense or crime involving moral turpitude, disgraceful or immoral conduct, dishonesty, examination irregularity, drunkenness, or drug addiction.

  5. No Dismissals or Dishonorable Discharges: Applicants must not have been dishonorably discharged from the military service or dismissed for cause from any civilian position in the government.

  6. No Recent CSE Attempts: Applicants must not have taken the same level of Career Service Examination, either through PPT or CSC Computerized Examination (CSC COMEX), within three (3) months before the date of the examination.



Application Requirements

When applying for the CSE-PPT, applicants must submit the following documents:

  1. Fully Accomplished Application Form: Applicants must complete the appropriate CS Form No. 100.

  2. Four (4) Identical ID Pictures: The ID pictures must meet specific specifications, including being Philippine Passport size (4.5 cm x 3.5 cm), colored with a white background, and taken within three (3) months prior to the application. The pictures should be printed on good quality photo paper and show the applicant in a standard close-up shot with neutral facial expression and both eyes open. A handwritten name tag with the applicant's signature over printed full name should be legibly shown.

  3. Original and Photocopy of Accepted ID Cards: Applicants must present original and photocopy of any accepted ID card for civil service exams, such as Driver's License, Passport, PRC License, SSS ID, Voter's ID, etc.

  4. Examination Fee: A non-refundable examination fee of Five Hundred Pesos (PhP500) must be paid upon application.




Scope of Examination


Professional Level
  • Numerical Ability: Basic Operations, Word Problems.
  • Analytical Ability: Word Association, Identifying Assumptions and Conclusions, Logic, Data Interpretation.
  • Verbal Ability: Grammar and Correct Usage, Vocabulary, Paragraph Organization.

SubProfessional Level
  • Numerical Ability: Basic Operations, Word Problems.
  • Clerical Ability: Filing, Spelling.
  • Verbal Ability: Grammar and Correct Usage, Vocabulary, Paragraph Organization, Reading Comprehension.


General information items covering topics such as the Philippine ConstitutionCode of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees (R.A. 6713)Peace and Human Rights Issues and Concepts, and Environment Management and Protection are also included in both levels of the examination.



Passing Grade

To pass the CSE-PPT, an examinee must achieve a general rating of at least 80.00. This passing grade ensures that candidates demonstrate a satisfactory level of proficiency across the various subjects and topics covered in the examination.


Where to Submit the Application

Submit your completed application form to the CSC office of your choice. (You may check this directory to find the one closest to you.) Once at the office, you will be asked to sign and stamp your thumbprint on the form. Once your application is accepted, pay the test fee at the cashier, where they will also give you your examination slip.

The List of Passers will be posted on the CSC Website (www.csc.gov.ph) by 20th October 2024. It's important to note that only the List of Passers posted on the CSC Website is considered official. Examinees can generate their individual examination rating through the Online Civil Service Examination Result Generation System (OCSERGS), accessible through the CSC Website by 27th October 2024.
