When you think of Filipino food, you’ll immediately think of chicken adobo and it’s a dish that every Filipino loves. Chicken adobo has been the favorite Filipino dish for generations. It’s made by stewing the chicken (can alternatively be pork or beef) in soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, onion, and bay leaves. This tenderizes the meat and you can taste this oh so delicious flavor when bringing the spoon full of rice and chicken adobo to your mouth.

Every region in the Philippines has its style and recipe for cooking chicken adobo but the classic way of doing it remains to be the best comfort food that reminds every Pinoy of home.

Chicken Adobo Ingredients

Here's a list of ingredients you need for cooking chicken adobo



    How to Cook Chicken Adobo

    STEP 1.In a pot, combine chicken, garlic, bay leaves, peppercorns and soy sauce. Marinate for at least 30 minutes or overnight.

    STEP 2. Drain garlic and chicken then reserve the sauce. Set aside.



    STEP 3. In a sauce pan, heat oil and fry marinated chicken for 3 minutes or until golden brown.

    STEP 4. Pour marinade and add water. Simmer for 20 minutes or until chicken is tender. Add more water if necessary.

    STEP 5.  Pour vinegar and simmer for another 5 minutes then season with salt and sugar according to taste

    STEP 6.  Remove from heat then transfer to serving bowl. Serve with steamed rice.
