When I first set foot on White Island during my 2016 trip to CamiguinPhilippines, it felt like stepping into a postcard—fine white sand, turquoise waters, and the majestic Mt. Hibok-Hibok as a dramatic backdrop.

White Island

This uninhabited sandbar off the coast of Mambajao is one of Camiguin’s most iconic and Instagram-worthy destinations.

Whether you're chasing the sunrise, taking panoramic photos, or swimming in crystal-clear waters, White Island is a must-see when in Camiguin.

What to Expect

Unlike other beaches, White Island is a pure sandbar, meaning no trees, cottages, or shade—just a perfect crescent of white sand surrounded by water on all sides. The view of Camiguin’s volcanoes from the island, especially Mt. Hibok-Hibok and Mt. Vulcan, is simply breathtaking.

During my 2016 trip, we visited just after sunrise—and that golden morning light made the experience even more magical. Today, it remains just as raw and beautiful.

White Island isn’t just a place—it’s an experience. There’s something surreal about being surrounded by water with no trees, no buildings, just endless views of sea and sky. Back in 2016, it felt like our own slice of paradise, and it still remains that way for travelers in 2025.

If you're visiting Camiguin, don’t miss this unique side-trip. White Island is perfect for an early morning escape or a scenic swim, and it's just a short boat ride from the mainland.

Come Again, Camiguin!
