The Sunken Cemetery left an indelible impression during my 2016 journey to CamiguinPhilippines. This unique site, where history and nature intertwine, offers a poignant reminder of the island's volcanic past.

What to Expect

The Sunken Cemetery is a submerged graveyard that sank into the sea during the 1871 eruption of Mount Vulcan. Today, a towering white cross marks the spot, rising above the waters as a memorial.

Visitors can explore the area by snorkeling, diving, or taking a boat ride to view the cross up close. Beneath the surface, remnants of tombstones and vibrant marine life create a surreal underwater landscape.
