HOW TO GET TO MCKINLEY WEST

McKinley West is another township just across McKinley Hill. Here's the directions on how to go to McKinley West:

FROM NORTH METRO
  • Option 1: From EDSA, ride a bus southbound to Baclaran or Ayala or take an MRT and go down at Ayala and look for the jeepney terminal (under MRT station) and ride those that are bound for Market Market. Get down at the corner of Fifth Avenue and McKinley Road and look for jeepneys bound for FTI Gate 3. This will pass by McKinley Hill.
  • Option 2: From EDSA, ride a bus southbound to Baclaran or Ayala or take an MRT and go down at Ayala and look for the bus terminal of TheFort buses (at the gate of Forbes across Shell Station) bound for Fort Bonifacio. These are air-conditioned buses that go around Fort Bonifacio. Get down at the corner of Fifth Avenue and McKinley Road and look for jeepneys bound for FTI Gate 3. This will pass by McKinley Hill.
  • Option 3: From EDSA, ride a bus southbound to Baclaran or Ayala or take an MRT and go down at Guadalupe. There are jeepneys in Gaudalupe that are bound for AFP Housing and Fort Bonifacio. You can ride either of the two, both of those routes pass by McKinley Hill.

From Pasong Tamo/Magallanes MRT Station:

From Guadalupe-EDSA Station:
  • There are jeepneys in Gaudalupe that are bound for AFP Housing and Fort Bonifacio. You can ride either of the two, both of those routes pass by McKinley Hill. Ask the driver to be dropped at McKinley Hill or One World Plaza.

From Taguig or Paranaque area:
  • Ride a jeepney going to Nichols in Taguig, ask to be dropped off the Gate 3 - where the jeepney terminal to The Fort is located. From Gate 3 , there are jeepneys bound for Guadalupe, passing by McKinley Hill.

For private vehicles:
  • McKinley Hill is just along Lawton Road that connects South Super Highway (via FTI/Nichols/Villamor Airbase exit) and Bonifacio Global City. It is also accessible through C5 via the McKinley Hills gate past the exit of Market Market/The Fort in the southbound lane. The area can also be accessed through EDSA northbound using either a) Kalayaan Avenue b) McKinley Road going to Forbes by the Ayala corner or c) C5 flyover coming from Buendia. It is advisable to just approach via Lawton Road since this road is not too traffic heavy yet compare to C5.

AsiaTown, a new alfresco dining in McKinley West, Taguig

As part of stricter protocols now that the province has been placed under the General Community  Quarantine (GCQ), the local government unit (LGU) announced that dining in mall restaurants and eating in mall hallways will not be allowed from March 22 to April 4. 


In a Facebook announcement on Sunday (March 21), Governor Jonvic C. Remulla said only food take-out and deliveries will be allowed during the two-week period.

In the same post, Remulla announced that hotel staycation guests will be required to show proof of booking and negative coronavirus disease (COVID-19) test results at checkpoints. Beach resorts, on the other hand, may only accommodate pre-existing or advanced bookings. Public swimming and leisure day trips will not be allowed.


Golf courses in Cavite will be open to visitors from Metro Manila, Laguna, Rizal, and Bulacan but guests need to show a valid ID and course booking at checkpoints. 


On March 21, the province recorded 117 new cases, bringing its total active cases to 2,637.

Cavite restricts mall restaurant dine-in, parties, religious gatherings

The national government will be imposing additional restrictions in Metro Manila and other areas under general community quarantine (GCQ) status from March 22 to April 4, 2021, Malacañang announced Sunday.


In a virtual presser, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said additional restrictions were approved by President Rodrigo Duterte through Inter-Agency Task Force Resolution No. 104 due to a spike in coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases in the country.

Starting Monday, Roque said Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna and Rizal will be joining Metro Manila under the GCQ classification.

He dismissed as “fake news” that there would be hard lockdown in Metro Manila and neighboring provinces.

"Wala po tayong lockdown. Fake news po yung sinasabi na magkakaroon tayo ng circuit breaker. Hindi po totoo ‘yan. Ang Metro Manila po ay manananitili under GCQ kasama po ang mga probinsya ng Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, at Rizal (We won’t have a lockdown. Reports about a circuit breaker lockdown are fake news. That’s not true. Metro Manila will remain under GCQ along with the provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal),” he said.

Under IATF Resolution No. 104, he said only essential travel into and out of Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal will be allowed.

Roque described this as a “travel bubble” where residents will only be allowed to travel within their respective provinces.

“Bawal po ang pagbibiyahe papunta sa Metro Manila at mga probinsya ng Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal at bawal din po lumabas ng Metro Manila at ng Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal. Magkakaroon po tayo ng parang bubble dito sa NCR at probinsya ng Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal (Traveling into and out of Metro Manila and the provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal will be prohibited. We will have a sort of bubble in NCR, and the provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal,” he said.

Travel of authorized persons outside their residences (APORs) such as essential workers, health and emergency frontline services personnel; government officials and government frontline personnel; duly-authorized humanitarian assistance actors; persons traveling for medical or humanitarian reasons; persons going to the airport for travel abroad, returning overseas Filipinos and overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) will be unimpeded for as long as they show their respective work identification cards.

Individuals crossing zones for work or business and going back home will also be allowed to travel to and from the said areas.

“Kung kayo ay uuwi, essential travel po ‘yun. Kailangan lang magpakita ng ID kung saan ka talaga nakatira (If you’re going back home that’s essential travel. All you need to do is show your ID to prove that you live there),” he said.

He expressed hope the public would understand that additional restrictions in the said areas were being done “for the common good.”


Public transportation retains capacity

Despite these additional restrictions, Roque said public transportation will retain current capacity subject to minimum health standards.

“Wala pong pagbabawas sa public transportation (There will be no limit to public transportation),” he said.

Biking and walking, he said, will also be encouraged.

Scheduled flights will not be canceled, however, he said non-essential travel including that for tourism, will be prohibited.

Public gatherings limited

All public gatherings, including religious gatherings, will be prohibited but weddings, baptism, and funerals will be allowed but must observe a 10-person venue capacity.

Current operational capacities of essential and non-essential services and industries will remain.

However, face-to-face meetings, group meals in workplaces will be prohibited. Instead, work-from-home and virtual meetings are encouraged.

Roque said the IATF resolution also enjoins the private sector to adopt similar alternative working arrangements as those in place in the executive branch of government such as operating on a 30 to 50 capacity.



Only outdoor dining allowed

As for dining, Roque said only outdoor dining will be allowed in areas under GCQ while indoor dining will be strictly prohibited.

“Pagdating po sa mga restaurants, ang papayagan lang po yung mga outdoor dining (When it comes to restaurants, we will only allow those with outdoor dining),” he said.

Outdoor dining must observe a maximum of 50 percent venue capacity.

Take out and delivery is encouraged, he added.

Wear masks at home

Although the economy will stay open, Roque said the IATF resolution will require persons below 18-years-old and above 65-years-old, those with comorbidities, and pregnant women to remain inside their residences at all times.

The IATF resolution also advises the wearing of face mask at home especially when living with elderly and vulnerable.

Accepting of visitors outside immediate family or household is strongly discouraged.

Operations of driving schools, traditional cinemas and video and interactive game arcades, libraries, archives, museums, and cultural centers, limited social events at accredited tourism establishments and limited tourism attractions will be temporarily suspended except open-air tourism attractions.

Metro Manila and 4 nearby provinces back to GCQ until April 4


All dressed in purple, a group of women held long rakes aloft as they walked in a line to a lavender field to do some pruning on an island in the southwestern part of South Korea.


Inspired by their native balloon flower, residents of Banwol and Bakji Islands—known as the “Purple Islands”—have painted their houses, roads and bridges in different shades of the color, and planted purple flowers such as lavender and asters to transform their town into a tourist attraction.

“Old people like us have a secluded life here, since all the young people left the town,” said villager Shin Deok-im, 79, who has lived on Bakji island for more than 60 years. “I’m glad to see young people and kids visiting to see our town. They are all like my grandchildren.”

The tiny, tranquil islands, which have a little over 100 residents, were picked for a tourism project supported by the government.



Since 2015, Shinan county has invested 4.8 billion won ($4.25 million) to turn the islands purple, including painting more than 28,000 square meters of roofs lilac.

The campaign has drawn over 487,000 people since its official start in 2019, according to the county office.

Restaurants on the islands offer purple rice and serve food on purple plates. Some residents have taken to the purple project with gusto.

To cater to the new waves of tourists, there are a few more amenities on the island, including a cafe, two full-service restaurants (one each on Bakji and Banwol), bike rental services and a small hotel. It takes about six hours to get there from Seoul by bus or private car.

‘I purple you’

“Every morning I dress up in purple from head to toe, even including my underwear and shoes, and that makes me happy,” said 88-year-old resident Jung Soon-shim, who was sitting in a purple gazebo.


Visitors can walk on three purple footbridges connecting the two islands to the larger one near it. There are benches decorated with the “I purple you” slogan made popular by K-pop band BTS member Kim Tae-hyung, more commonly known as V, which means “I trust, love and support you.”

Those wearing purple are even allowed free entry to the islands.

Starting March 19, people will be prevented from lingering near the popular Kaybiang Tunnel in Cavite province, as Gov. Jonvic Remulla declared the area a “strictly no tourism zone.”


Remulla, in a post on his Facebook page on Wednesday, said he had been receiving reports that tourists visiting the tunnel along the Nasugbu (Batangas)-Ternate (Cavite) highway on Mt. Pico de Loro were often the cause of traffic gridlocks and trash in the area.

Preventing crowding

“All day long, thousands of bikes, motorcycles and vehicles are parked there as people eat, mingle and loiter, and stop to take selfies and photos with the tunnel as background,” Remulla said in Filipino.

“The result? Nonstop traffic and bottleneck from the tunnel’s entrance up to its exit,” he added.

Remulla said regulating the number of people in the area was also to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, which might be transmitted through crowding at the vicinity of the tunnel.

He said the new rules would include prohibitions on parking, eating, picture-taking and loitering. Motorists are also asked not to blow their vehicles’ horns inside the tunnel. Cyclists will also be prevented from using the tunnel “for leisure purposes.”

“I don’t want to spoil anyone’s fun. But it’s my responsibility to ensure that traffic is flowing smoothly and that law and order is observed in our roads,” Remulla said.

Police checkpoints, he said, will be put up along the highway spanning the towns of Tanza, Naic, Marangondon and Ternate to implement his order.


The 300-meter Kaybiang Tunnel, opened in 2013, connects Ternate in Cavite to Nasugbu in Batangas. It shortens travel time from Metro Manila to Nasugbu from the usual four hours via Tagaytay City to just a little over an hour.

Remulla said he was alarmed by the 286 new COVID-19 cases recorded in Cavite on March 16, which he attributed to the daily trips of his provincemates to Metro Manila for work.

“Health protocols in Metro Manila have tightened again but rules are still flexible in Cavite. We also have to balance the impact of COVID on the local economy,” he said.

Cavite banned tourist activities in Kaybiang Tunnel


The Metro Manila Council (MMC), composed of National Capital Region (NCR) mayors and national government officials, will impose a uniform and longer curfew hours starting March 15 in response to the surge of Covid-19 infections in the region.


In a virtual presser on Thursday, Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chair Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos said the MMC agreed on implementing uniform curfew hours from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for two weeks in the NCR.

“A resolution is being drafted and will be signed by all mayors. This will only be for two weeks. Kung ito ay may improvement, maaaring tanggalin na po ito (if there will be improvement, we may remove this),” Abalos said.

He said essential workers, such as those working for restaurant or food delivery services, will still be allowed outside during curfew hours but must present their work identification card or certificate.


“Even with the curfew, establishments like food deliveries can operate 24 hours, yung mga (those) essential services,” Abalos said.

The decision, he said, was made after health experts from the Department of Health (DOH) and the University of the Philippines (UP) OCTA Research team warned the MMC of the “alarming” number of new Covid-19 cases.

“We had a meeting with the UP OCTA Research team. And from February 4 to 10, new cases per day is at 360. From March 4 to 10—from 360—it reached 1,411 in the NCR. And according to their figures, from 8 percent of new cases, it reached 60 percent from March 4 to 10. The numbers are quite alarming as far as NCR mayors are concerned,” Abalos said.

Granular lockdowns


To avoid further spread of Covid-19, he said the MMC will focus on “granular lockdowns” or implementing lockdowns in small areas such as streets or barangays with high number of infections.


“Iigtingan din ng mga alkalde ang granular lockdown. Kung may clustering—bawat bahay, bawat kalye—maaari po itong isarado ng mga alkalde (Our mayors will intensify granular lockdowns. If there are clustering—every home, every street—these may be closed by our mayors),” Abalos said.

He said barangay officials and the police will be ordered to strictly enforce minimum health standards such as wearing face masks and face shields and proper physical distancing, noting that the spike in Covid-19 cases may be caused by the “lax” observance of these policies aside from the spread of the more infectious UK and South African variants.

While LGUs NCR opted to impose unform curfew hours, Abalos said sanctions on violators may vary depending on the ordinance of each LGU.

“Ang iniiwasan po natin ay mga nagka-cluster na mga tao sa mga kalye, talagang maghihigpit po tayo diyan (What we’re trying to avoid is clustering in public, we’re really going to be strict on that),” Abalos said.

He urged the public to comply with the curfew and other health policies, noting that individual discipline is key to avoiding further spread of Covid-19.

NCR leaders agreed to a unified uniform curfew hours starting March 15

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) today confirmed that the travel authority from the PNP and the medical certificate from the LGU health office are no longer required for travel after the IATF-MEID approved the harmonized national travel protocols for land, air, and sea recommended by the department.


DILG Undersecretary and Spokesperson Jonathan Malaya said that the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-MEID) issued Resolution No. 101 on Friday approving the streamlined travel protocols crafted by the DILG in coordination with the Philippine National Police, Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines, League of Provinces of the Philippines, League of Municipalities of the Philippines, and the League of Cities of the Philippines.

He said that the new protocols are applicable to all LGUs across the country and he enjoined all LGUs to comply with the new regulations issued by the IATF.

He also said that COVID-19 testing shall not be mandatory for domestic travelers except if the LGU of destination will require testing as a requirement prior to travel. “If the LGU of destination requires a test, it shall only require a Reverse-Transcription - Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) test and no other. Meaning, LGUs cannot require Antigen tests or rapid tests as test requirements prior to travel,” he said.

He advised all travelers to check with their LGU of destination before travelling to ensure a smooth trip.

Malaya also said that under the new protocols approved by the IATF, no traveler shall be required to undergo facility-based quarantine unless they exhibit symptoms upon arrival at the LGU of destination. “Therefore, the health assessment of passengers or travelers supervised by medical professionals shall be mandatory upon entry in the port/terminal and exit at point of destination,” he said.

He said that all LGUs, regardless if they require PCR tests or not, shall conduct clinical and exposure assessment at all points of entry and exit to ensure that only asymptomatic, non-close contact individuals are allowed to travel or move from one LGU to another.

Malaya emphasized that with the travel regulations harmonized, minimum public health standards which include physical distancing, hand hygiene, cough etiquette and wearing of face masks and face shields, among others, shall be strictly implemented by the PNP and local authorities.


Those Authorized Persons Outside of Residence (APORs) from national government agencies and attached agencies shall provide their identification card, travel order, and travel itinerary, and must pass symptom-screening at ports of entry and exit pursuant to IATF Resolution No. 98-A issued on February 4, 2021.

For ports and terminals, on the other hand, all must have assigned sufficient quarantine facilities. A referral system must be in place wherein travelers who become symptomatic shall be transferred to quarantine or isolation facilities to enable the Bureau of Quarantine for airports, or local health officials in case of LGUs, to take over.


For the National Capital Region, all buses bound for provinces shall be required to use the Integrated Terminal Exchange as the central hub for transportation. No bus company or public transport shall be allowed to use their private terminals.
