How to Earn Referral Travel Credits

Neither the Airbnb User may be the host nor the guest on the Qualifying Reservation booked by the referred friend.

All you need to know about Airbnb Referral Program

SEPTEMBER 26, 2010 So on this day, I ended my long-term bumming. I finally got a job - call center agent. I was a total bum after I stopped studying in college.

Then one friend advised/referred me to apply for a job in Teleperformance. I was like, bakit hindi?

This wasn't my first time to apply for a job.

So I tried my luck on that day. I wasn't good in English. I hated all my English subjects in way back in my schooling days. It wasn't really my thing.

I was into arts and music back then. I also didn't know about call center when in fact it was already a trend back in early 2000's. So why not try it?

Here I list the details of my job offer, the application process they have and my short opinions.

ABOUT THE ACCOUNT/CAMPAIGN/CLIENT

Telstra is an Australian company. That means "DAYSHIFT". So I will work in daytime, normal life. Opposite to what the 70-80% people who are in the BPO industry who work at night.

APPLICATION PROCESS

  1. Walk-in applicants (Referrals do the same)
  2. Go to the recruitment office (business hours) 8am-5pm. I always go after lunch so you can save your time and tummy. Going before will just give you same result.
  3. Submit your resume to the reception. They will ask you to fill out an application form.
  4. Fill out the form and submit back to them.
  5. Your name will be called. Duration may varies depending on the numbers of the applicant or on how fast their recruitment move.
  6. You will be called for the INITIAL INTERVIEW. This can be a solo or group interview. Usually questions are about personal information, educational background and work experiences (if there's any). Result will be given in a few after they review your response to the interview.
  7. If you passed, you will be called for an ONLINE EXAM or VERSANT. It will be a series of different exams about English vocabulary, grammar and comprehension. It may also include some Mathematics and Logic. Some other exams are timed. Results will be given after the exam.
  8. Once you passed the exams, you will be PROFILED to a program that suites your skills. At this point, you may want to bargain with the recruiter if you are looking for a specific account or campaign. With my application in Teleperformance, I was advised by a friend who worked for Verizon campaign to apply for the same campaign. However, Telstra-BigPond was on a ramp when I applied in. Ending? I accepted the offer since it was my first-time to passed and get hired.
  9. Then you will be scheduled for the FINAL INTERVIEW. This interview is commonly facilitated by an operations manager, a supervisor or an HR. Result is given within the day or on the day they will provide you after the interview. In my case, I was interviewed via phone by a supervisor and asked me to do a step-by-step instructions on how to login and reset password on Facebook.com
  10. IF YOU PASSED, then congratulations! You will proceed on the Job Offer where you will have a briefing about the your job and your salary and benefits as their employee.
  11. You will also be given a list of requirements that you need to accomplish within their given timeframe.

MY EXPERIENCE

About the Company:
PROS
  • Teleperformance is not so meticulous in accepting applicants. They accept undergraduate college students with no working experience. They even accept high school graduates before. Not sure today.
CONS
  • Payroll disputes - during my 1 year stay with Teleperformance, I experienced payroll disputes a lot of times. We use payroll and scheduling system. But still, issues with pays every cutoff occur almost every month.
  • Security - super strict. They do frisking on every doors. I don't know if it applies to different sites.
  • Dress code - since EDSA site is (was) the main office, dress code is strictly dress up. Only on weekends you can wear tees and shorts. (at least they allow shorts) 😃

About the Account:

PROS
  • Dayshift
  • Aussies are nice compare to Americans
  • Training was sufficient - thanks to our trainer Cloyd Villegas.
CONS
  • Shifting sched - although it's dayshift, schedule-wise is not so good. I even experienced going to work on different schedule everyday.
  • Split-off - this is one thing I really hate the most.
  • System - it sucks (for TSR) they use VPN logins
  • Queuing - super! I was averaging for 30-40 calls a day doing ADSL troubleshooting.
  • Stations are not assigned. You must find one for yourself on a daily basis.

Aout the Management:
PROS
  • Can't think of any.
CONS
  • Politics - politics everywhere.

About the Place:
PROS
  • Location-wise, it's very accessible - it's just along EDSA. Can be accessed via bus or MRT.
  • There is a lot of food places nearby.
CONS
  • The building itself is quite old now.
  • Not fully airconditioned.

CONCLUSION

If you are new in BPO and near EDSA-Shaw (crossing), I recommend you try it here. But I heard that other Teleperformance sites have better working environment.

Creepy yet magical? Here's the story of the "abandoned castle in the Philippines".

If there's a Disneyland in the Philippines, this piece of land in Lemery, Batangas must be the closest one in comparison. However, the dream of a Filipino kid going to the said theme park isn't possible anymore (not really). Fantasy World is an unfinished dream that we once looking forward to.

Fantasy World Philippines is a family entertainment facility, theme amusement and recreation club park. It is located on top of the soft rolling mountain ridge overlooking the clear panoramic views of Taal Lake and Volcano.

After its completion, facilities will consist of golf & country club, hotel, condotels and residential houses.

The site was chosen for Fantasy World by the proponents for its mild climate, purity of air, and closeness to Metro Manila and the Southern Provinces.

Fantasy World used to be the main set location for the local fantasy-themed television series by GMA Network entitled Majika.

Majika in 2006

Top billed by Angel Locsin and Dennis Trillo. That was back in 2006 when the theme park was still quite new and well maintained, a far cry from its current state today with its rapidly dilapidating walls, which can be seen even from the highway.

Entrance to Fantasy World will be through the main gateway along Diokno Highway. Entry to the site can be from any of the six (6) major road networks.

Fantasy World Theme Parks, Amusement and Recreation Club, Inc. is a non-stock, non-profit corporation established primarily as a membership club which will operate and maintain a country club, amusement theme park and water park for the exclusive use and benefit of its members, their families and guests.

Fantasy World offers a complete family entertainment facility similar to those found in Disneyland, Disneyworld, Universal Studios, and other amusement and theme parks found throughout the world.

Located along Diokno Highway, this seemingly straight-from-a-storybook structure was initially designed to be a resort, country club, amusement theme park and water park exclusive to members, their families and their guest, much like the Tagaytay Highlands.

There are also residential buildings inside the complex offering a magnificent view of Taal. However, the planned rides and other establishments of the amusement park never materialized since construction was halted due to financial problems.

Tourists often visit the town of La Trinidad in Benguet to see the strawberry and flower farms and buy fresh vegetables. But now, there is another reason to make the trip from Baguio City.

On June 23, the STOBOSA Hillside Homes Artwork was unveiled. It is the first and largest community artwork in the Philippines.

The project is a component of the Department of Tourism-Cordillera Administrative Region’s Rev-Bloom (Rev-Up, Revive, Revisit, Revitalize) Urban Redevelopment Tourism project supported by Davies Paints.

WHAT IS STOBOSA?

STOBOSA stands for Stonehill, Botiwtiw and Sadjap—the three sitios on which the artwork now stands. The project was inspired by the Favelas in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

StoBoSa Hillside

The 200 houses that line the stone hill on Km. 3, La Trinidad previously formed something akin to a confusing wall overlooking the Balili River. It has now been transformed into an 18,000-sqm. collective canvas that’s brilliantly painted by 520 residents and volunteers (The endeavor commenced in January 2016.). This is a testament to the bayanihan spirit still alive among Filipinos.

Davies Paints team Davies Paints/Clinton Aniversario

Davies Paints, the country’s number one paint exporter and number one in colors, provided environment-friendly paints as part of its advocacy to beautify the Philippines, give back to communities and bring color into people’s lives.

StoBoSa Hillside Before and After

The local government of La Trinidad provided paintbrushes and rollers and built scaffolding. Tam-awan artists, led by Jordan Mang-osan, designed the connective landscape. The residents and volunteers executed the artwork beautifully, motivated by community spirit.

The STOBOSA community has pledged to make the project sustainable by touching up the artwork as necessary. Working together has also inspired representatives of the households—mostly women—to undertake other efforts to beautify their area by keeping it clean and infusing life by planting greens.

Valley of Colors

After their collective effort, the area is now a burst of vibrant colors—a welcoming sight as you enter the town. So the next time you go up North, get your cameras ready. The community artwork will be visible on your right after you cross the La Trinidad arch from Baguio City.

A few fun facts about the project:

Three villages

The art project transformed three sitios of Barangay Balili in La Trinidad. These are Stone Hill, Botiwtiw, and Sadjap.

180 houses

As of writing, 180 houses have all been painted just in time for the unveiling activity.

80 days

The giant mural was finished in 80 days since it started on January 18. The sessions included painting training.

2,800 gallons of paints

It took 1,000 gallons of primer paints and 500 gallons of colored paints to design StoBoSa Hillside Homes. They will be needing 1,300 gallons more to complete the project. Davies Paints provided all these for free.

520 people worked together

The residents of the three villages, local artists, and members of volunteer groups—all 520 of them—put together their hands to make one giant work of art.

HOW TO GET TO VALLEY OF COLORS

If you are going to commute via jeepney, you must get to La Trinidad Jeepney Terminal in Baguio City. Take the jeepney which will pass by the "Valley of Colors" located at the right side of the road. You will not miss it, as it is just a few meters away from the La Trinidad welcome arch.
