Are you a budding blogger eager to monetize your passion and hard work? Discover the world of Google AdSense, a powerful advertising platform that allows first-time bloggers to turn their content into revenue and embark on a successful blogging journey.

As for my blog, AdSense is the main source of my earnings. That's why I highly recommend to utilize this ad network, especially if you are a Filipino blogger like me.

What is AdSense?

Google AdSense is an advertising program run by Google that allows website owners and bloggers to monetize their content by displaying targeted ads on their websites. Advertisers use AdSense to bid for space on websites based on specific keywords, topics, and audience demographics. When visitors to your website click on or view these ads, you earn revenue. AdSense is one of the most popular and user-friendly advertising platforms for website monetization.

How to Earn Money From AdSense

Earning money from AdSense involves several steps, from creating an account to optimizing ad placements. Here's a comprehensive guide on how to earn money from AdSense:

1. Create a Google Account

If you don't have one, create a Google account. If you already have a Gmail account, you can use that to sign up for AdSense.

2. Create a Website or Blog

To participate in AdSense, you need a website or blog with original and valuable content. It could be a personal blog, a niche website, a news site, or any other online platform where you regularly publish content.

For me, I chose to use Blogger since it is FREE and can be easily configured with AdSense.

3. Apply for AdSense

Once your website is ready and has a significant amount of original content, apply for Google AdSense. Go to the AdSense website, sign in with your Google account, and fill out the application form. Ensure your website complies with AdSense policies, including having a privacy policy, clear navigation, and unique and valuable content.

TIP: Your blogsite must have at least 10-20 contents/blogs and a few traffic for faster approval (but not guaranteed).

4. Get Approved

Google will review your application and website content. If your website meets AdSense policies and guidelines, you'll receive approval to display ads. For my blog, my AdSense application took at least 1-2 weeks before it got approved.

5. Set Up Ad Units

After approval, log in to your AdSense account, and create ad units. Ad units come in various sizes and formats, such as display banners, text ads, and responsive ad units. Choose the ones that fit your website's layout and design.

TIP: Responsive ad units are more effective to my blog. Also, use the Auto-ads option, it's one of the best features of AdSense.

6. Place Ads on Your Website

Copy the generated ad codes and paste them into your website's HTML code where you want the ads to appear. Place ads in strategic locations, such as within content, near the top of the page, or in the sidebar, to maximize visibility and clicks.

7. Optimize Ad Placements

Experiment with different ad placements to find what works best for your audience. Monitor the performance of your ads using AdSense's built-in analytics to track clicks, impressions, and earnings. Test different ad formats, sizes, and positions to optimize revenue. This is actually important since you can recognize the best places where to put your ads on to your site.

8. Follow AdSense Policies

Continuously adhere to AdSense policies. Avoid clicking on your ads, encouraging others to click, or using deceptive tactics to increase clicks. Violating AdSense policies can result in account suspension.

9. Focus on Quality Content

Create high-quality, engaging, and original content to attract more visitors. Quality content not only enhances user experience but also increases the likelihood of ad clicks.

If you are a blogger (regardless of your niche), you have to always focus on your contents. This is the only reason why people (your readers, visitors) visit your website. The more visitors you have, the more website traffic you get, the more possible ad-clicks, the more revenue for you.

10. Promote Your Website

Promote your website through social media, search engine optimization (SEO), and other online marketing strategies to drive more traffic. More visitors mean more opportunities for ad clicks and earnings.

11. Receive Payments

Once your earnings reach the payment threshold, Google will send you payments through methods like direct bank deposit or checks, depending on your location and preferences.

7 Best Ad Networks for Filipino Bloggers

I reached P100,000 monthly personal income at age 32! :)

Since I started working for my own and for my family in 2010, I never got a chance to have a 6-digit amount of money into my hands - not until I was able to sold a social media account for P300,000, a one-time deal in 2018.

I started my career as a call center agent in BPO industry earning at least P16,000 to P24,000 including taxes and government premiums. With inflation and the ongoing hike of the prices (food, products, rent, services and transportation) in the Philippines, everyone just like me needed another hustle or extra job to earn more and to cope up.

In 2018, I finally ended my 8-year long day job (mostly night job since I clock-in graveyard shifts) when me and my wife started to raise a family with our daughter. Our decision to be with her all the time, to be hands-on in raising her, and to witness every life event with her, did a big impact to my career - to become a full-time dad while being a part-time blogger.

With these big decisions in life, I didn't know that my life was just beginning to get better career-wise and financially while I spent more time with my family. :)

WHAT IS BETTER ADSENSE? AND HOW IT AFFECTS YOUR PUBLISHING?

In April 2019, Google posted an update for AdSense. It includes some changes on the ads format and sizes. Here's an update of Google AdSense for Better Ads Experience:

The Coalition for Better Ads announced the "Better Ads Experience Program." This Program provides guidelines for companies like Google on how they can use the Better Ads Standards to help improve users' experience with ads on the web.

In June, we announced Chrome's plans to support the Better Ads Standards in early 2018. Violations of the Standards are reported to sites via the Ad Experience Report, and site owners can submit their site for re-review once the violations have been fixed. Starting on February 15, in line with the Coalition's guidelines, Chrome will remove all ads from sites that have a "failing" status in the Ad Experience Report for more than 30 days. All of this information can be found in the Ad Experience Report Help Center, and our product forums are available to help address any questions or feedback.

We look forward to continuing to work with industry bodies to improve the user experience for everyone.

How to Add Blogger Ads Inline AdSense Widget

I am writing this to share my experience in moving my blogspot to my own domain.

Mblogger.com subdomain was approved for adding AdSense years ago. This month I decided to purchase a domain for my blog.

Loading...

So I got my domain from Blogger through GoDaddy.com. The shift to the new domain was OK except that my Ads suddenly went blank. Then I went to adsense>account settings>sites authorized to show ads... then added my domain URL there - was this step a mistake??

Because my blog is hosted by blogger and i only purchased a domain for my blog. ads were perfectly showing with my blogspot.com url name.

Now on my adsense account it is showing this msg:
"In order to complete your request to show ads on your own website, please implement your ad code on a live page on the domain that you gave in the upgrade request form. Your upgrade request can only be reviewed once your ad code has impressions on that domain. Learn more"

So I looked for an answer online using this: "ads not showing on godaddy domain using blogger as host"

One advised this:

If your account was approved through an application from blogger, then your account is approved to host ads on a blogspot URL, not on your own domain.

In order for the ads to display on your own domain, you need to apply for a host account upgrade ... that's why the message is displaying in your account. If you followed all the steps required in the instructions to submit a host account upgrade, then you just need to wait for them to approve it so ads will display on your domain.

The message to place ad code in your site will continue to display until after the approval is complete (blogger's code from the gadgets is fine to use). The host account upgrade can take as long as a month to be completed.

I tried it so I tried following this: My ads>Other products

But there was no Upgrade now option. But there was this page that asking you to provide your domain then it will give you HTML Code that needs to be pasted on your site.

You go to blogger.com then Themes>Edit HTML

But when I tried putting in the code after <head>, I got this error message:

Error parsing XML, line 5, column 15: Open quote is expected for attribute "async" associated with an element type "script".

I copied the whole error message and googled it. I saw this: How To Add Adsense Code Into Blogger HTML Without Parsing Error Message

"script" must be followed by the ' = ' character.

Solution
replace ‘’sync’ ’ with the XML equivalent  async='async'

I followed it and saved the HTML and it worked!!!! HOWEVER, when I went back to my AdSense to submit my application, they advised that it will take 3 DAYS for the approval.

UPDATE on 24-04-2017

Your AdSense application status

Thank you for your interest in expanding your Google AdSense account to implement ad code on your own website. Unfortunately, after reviewing your application, we're unable to approve this application for the time being. Your existing AdSense account that allows you to show ads on partner sites is not affected by this disapproval.

We did not approve your application for the reasons listed below.

Issues:

Insufficient content: To be approved for AdSense and show relevant ads on your site, your pages need to have enough text on them for our specialists to review and for our crawler to be able to determine what your pages are about.
To resolve this issue, please work through the following suggestions:

  • Make sure that your pages have sufficient text - websites that contain mostly images, videos or Flash animations will not be approved.
  • Your content should contain complete sentences and paragraphs, not only headlines.
  • Ensure that your website is fully built and launched before you apply for AdSense - do not apply while your site’s still in a beta or “under construction” phase or only consists of a website template.
  • Place the ad code on a live page of your website. It does not have to be the main page, but test pages that are empty except for the AdSense ad code will not be approved.
  • Provide a clear navigation system for your visitors so that they can easily find all of the sections and pages of your website.
  • If you’d like to monetize YouTube videos, please apply for the YouTube monetization program. Note that blogs and websites that contain only videos will not be approved.

For now, I'll just wait for their response then update this blog soon. :)

UPDATE AS OF MAY 6, 2017

So finally I received this email from AdSense:
Your website has been approved to show AdSense adsCongratulations, your AdSense account has been approved to show AdSense ads on your own website. Within a few hours, you will begin to see live ads.

Now, the ads are seen on this website. Will post once I get my first payment with Google AdSense! :)

How to upgrade YouTube, Blogger or other hosted account to show ads on a website.

If you signed up for AdSense through a host partner and you’d like to show ads on your own non-host partner website, then you’ll need to provide us with the URL of the site you want to monetize. You can do this via a one-time application form.

Note that if you haven't already verified your address via a Personal Identification Number (PIN), then you'll need to do this before you can apply to show ads on your own site. Learn more about PIN verification.

To apply to show ads on your own site:
  • Sign in to your AdSense account.
  • In the left navigation panel, click My ads.
  • Click Other products.
  • Click Upgrade now and complete the application form.
  • Finally you need to implement AdSense ad code on the URL that you provided above, on a page that receives traffic.
